Illuminati Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Inch resting, are the transphobes gonna say that people with x y chromosomes have an unfair intellect advantage?
Aethereal Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 (edited) Just remove the sex division in general. The greatest math competitions (and probably in other sciences too) are not segregated based on sex, with some small exceptions. Edited August 18, 2023 by Aristotle

CaptainMusic Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Absolutely ridiculous I get it with physical activities but there’s no reason for trans people to be excluded from mind related competitions.
Communion Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 The TERFs have jumped the shark into parody. This is like when I saw right-wingers calling to ban trans women from all-women League of Legends tournaments.

The determination of who qualifies to compete is by skill alone. FIDE created championships in various categories, women and various age groups, to encourage more people to participate in chess which had historically been a mostly male activity.

And how many trans women historically are represented in chess? 1
Specter Posted August 19, 2023 Posted August 19, 2023 This is so dhdhfhdgg I'm going to use the **** out of this to lash the TERFs and transphobes. There is really very, very little evidence between the differences between men and women in terms of brain structures, grey matter, etc...
Holiest Dreams Posted August 19, 2023 Posted August 19, 2023 Literally makes zero sense whatsoever. I mean, not that I agree with banning trans women from physical sports either, but usually there’s some argument they have to go by - even though it’s flawed. It’s not like a day goes by without attacks on transgender people, but this is just so obvious that they can’t even pretend to hide behind some reason of “ethics”
VOSS Posted August 19, 2023 Posted August 19, 2023 This article didn't have many details, I found a NYT article and I can't understand their reasoning at all. I'm betting they reverse course cause this makes no sense and seems like it will only cause them tons of controversy.
John Slayne Posted August 19, 2023 Posted August 19, 2023 transphobia has always been rooted in misogyny. those who pay attention have known and been saying this. the fact that transphobia is so normalised now that people feel comfortable to make decision like this, effectively implying that 'male brains' are superior... it's a disaster for women and gender equality!

This, it's like having gendered categories for e-sports This was never about "biological males having physical advantage over women", it was always just pure transphobia, nothing more. Current president of FIDE is a Russian who is a top associated of the leader of the United Russia party, the biggest party in Russia. Back in the early '90s there was a split in the chess world and there were two competing world championships for a few years. A group of some of the top players split off because they thought FIDE was corrupt and wasn't getting good sponsorship deals. Eventually they rejoined, but on the condition a Russian was named the new FIDE president. It has been a Russian ever since. So, with a Russian in charge, IDT they are giving much thought to the bad press this is causing.
