I think a more fair representation would be that either both are guilty by association or neither are guilty by association.

 

I'm personally somewhere in the middle, and I expressed that both with Taylor and with Beyoncé. I don't really think coming for Taylor and/or Beyoncé is conductive to anything in these scenarios, because neither of them did or say the f*cked up things people are mad about. Those would be Matty/Lizzo. But I also think that absolving them entirely is not really fair.

 

Taylor having Matty in her VIP tents and holding his hand when he was in the eye of the storm for glamorizing sexual and physical abuse against black women and participating in racist and sexist jokes wasn't a good look for her. And I think Beyoncé shouting out Lizzo when her dancers are trying to have a fair trial isn't a good look either. But at the end of the day, like I said, neither of them is guilty.

I'm not thrilled with Beyoncé performing in Dubai, but pretending like the concert wasn't also filled with lots of queer people and her own fans is false.
