Based on a story of a real life NFL player who grew up in poverty and foster homes. Gets taken in by rich white family, Becomes football star. Goes to elite college school while struggling to get the grades in high school, and overcomes many obstacles to do so. 
 

It’s the most “white savior” movie you’ll probably ever see

He actually said it when the movie came out and no one believed him. He said he wanted nothing to do with the movie or book.
