This is a v dysfunctional country that is obsessed with gun culture. Also, it doesn't help that people aren't v educated and many fall victim to the right-wing grievance machine.

Europe has a much more robust social welfare state that has been built off the backs of those in the countries they robbed for centuries. Obviously US imperialism has been and will continue to be a threat around the world but it’s been less than 100 years since the US has been a global superpower.

Thank you. People assuming it's because of "Guns", yes Guns are bad and regulation of them would help but it would also further expose the poor social welfare state which is the root issue.

Because they are victims of colonisation by Europeans just like the rest of the Americas.

The overdose deaths are largely because pharma companies went to vulnerable communities, pushed drugs knowing they would get addicted.

Do you want the long or the short answer? The US has been a place full of propaganda that turns its citizens into super individual, isolated and egoistical mess. There's a whole system of opression that only benefits its 1% as it has been since the time that country was founded and yet people still have the midset that 'if you fail, it's your fault', 'if you can't pay insurance, a mortgage, a rent, it's your fault' when statistically more and more people are being pushed into poverty and their acquisition power has gone into the pits. This fentanyl mess started because of how f***** up their health system is. Add that to being one of the countries that produces more guns per capita and there you have this result

1. Everyone is angry. Emotional intelligence needs to be a subject in grade school.

2. People hate losing arguments. They feel it makes them look weak.

3. Violence is condemned and promoted at the same time.

This. And it is a violent system that values order over actual justice.

People are taught they have to climb on top of each other just so they can get basic stuff for their own survival like food and shelter. Like, what could go wrong? :skull:

We need to stop looking at data like those in the OP and make sweeping generalizations about a population without taking into account the history of how they got there. We reproduce this neoliberal **** like omg Americans are DUMB and FAT!!! yet fail to realize the vast majority actually have no say in how to live their lives. Let's blame systematic issues on the system, not on the individuals doing their best to survive for the love of God. :gaycat6:

Americans are culturally a violent people. They solve their problems with violence and anger. You cannot even have a normal debate with an American because it will just end up in fireworks of flared anger.

It’s a culture and people that glorifies guns, murder, drugs, money, and other vices. How many shootings happened this year alone? Now compare that to any developed country and you will see a huge disparity.

The problem is the people. At this point the US is a failed state.

That also happens in the European Union, but there are strong health systems and social programs funded with taxes. "Try that in a small town".
