I think what we are all saying is that this EP is not trying to be anything it’s not. Addison isn’t trying to sell this as some conceptual facade like “heartbreak on the dancefloor” or “the real me” or “what it means to be a woman in 2023”.

When in reality, every pop album by a major label “artist” made for streaming and radio is just gonna be the same 2:30-3:00 minute long trend following dance pop number dressed up in slightly different clothes (whether that’s “80s”, “house”, or Avril-esque pop music with an over-compressed bass and guitar). There’s nothing deep about this pop music, nor is there anything deep about Addisons. These are songs a child could write. They sound AI generated.

The difference is Addison literally isn’t even denying the fact that she made these knowing nothing about music really, isn’t really an artist, feels indifferent to them and still needs to grow. She didn’t set out to “dress these up” as anything they’re not. She made some fun bangers, and they’re genuinely on par with other B-list, even allegedly A-list pop acts are putting out. It just feels more genuine and it’s pretty good! Especially for the fact they are years old and were sitting on a shelf collecting dust.

I think the best comparison is Paris Hilton's debut. Yes, it was most definitely entirely done to further capitalize on her name. Yes, she might have little to no musical talent. Yes, you could make the case that her success is vapid and undeserved. But also, the bops bop in the way they were intended to. It's not a sin to enjoy music that was literally manufactured to be as enjoyable as possible. You get hot producers, skilled songwriters, and the outcome is probably going to be great, no matter who it is.

2 die 4 ft. Charli XCX - 685,767
Nothing On (But The Radio) - 323,301
it could’ve been u - 200,021
Obsessed - 171,678

1.7m?? omg this is GREAT for a surprise release, leaked songs, no promo, no visuals & small playlisting :clap3:

almost 700k for 2D4 when it only entered the UK with 80k? that means it got good global streams omg

i can’t believe there was a thread on how she didn’t enter the top 200 when this is already better than what i expected :deadbanana4:

wait is this true?? I’ve never heard of that being implemented before (I think that’s what Adele wanted with 25 but Spotify didn’t allow her to)

Not at all. Addison actually cares about music and has really good music taste. She shelved these songs for so long because she felt like it’d be a disservice to her influences like Arca and Burial. :rip: She is no Paris Hilton.

Cute EP, but why does she have writing credits on NOBTR? She probably switched a few words around right?

I honestly could see her being an enjoyable artist but these kind of statements being made in the beginning almost always lead to the artist’s demise. Quite annoying

Is the good pop music in the room with us?

Seems her only agenda is being played in retail stores and malls around the US.

Gaga plays in much more malls than Addison Rae so don’t even try btw
