single Nicki Minaj - "Last Time I Saw You"

I don’t know why I have everyone so mad when I literally just want the best for Nicki lol. I’ve said that the song sounds really good and I’ll be streaming regardless, but as a Barb since 2010 I’m beyond tired of the poor decision making and bad rollouts. Other artists don’t even reveal they have an album coming until it’s finished, promotion lined up, videos and artwork shot, preorders ready. But with Nicki she’s always still working on things and making last minute changes. The rare times when things have actually been ready in advance, they’ve done really well.

she’s old school. this is how it’s always been done. you drop the release date months in advance and you build up hype and drop the singles. she has an entire plan, don’t act like she’s willy nilly now.

 

she said didn’t want to do a surprise release and she would give a release date 3 months in advance after Queen. she’ll have everything done by november 17th. best believe.

I completely agree! I feel like everyone (herself included) has benefited from songs being crafted to be easy viral hits, but I honestly think we need people who want to be different and really shake up the game. That will inspire everyone else to push their pen and sound. ESPECIALLY in female rap and rap overall. Everyone is following the same formula (sans Doja to a much lesser extent).

It’s interesting that y’all don’t want Nicki to have a more mature sound. Y’all do know she’s about to be 41 right? She has a wide fanbase. Why not make something tailored to the OG barbs…young gen X’ers and older millennials? She’s has been alienating them with songs like SFG and Barbie World. She can do both. Anyone remember “Your Love?”

releasing a chilled pop song is what she needs rn. she should drop a rap feature in october as the second single tho

I’d be happy for this to be the single and then she can drop a rap track with the album pre-order whenever that happens.

Perfect single choice imo. It doesn't have to smash either, just some exposure on Pop radio without compromising her sound with some cheap tricks. Of course she'll release a rap bop before the album or with the album drop, but having one more while Barbie World/Princess Diana are big isn't really smart.

“We go Up” is drill rap which is relatively new. Gen X’ers and Millennials did not grow up on drill rap which came on the scene in the 2010s.
