Popular Post Badgalbriel Posted August 12, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 12, 2023 The difference is that an average American needs much more money to live comfortably than the average brit. Mississippians might have more money per head but they don't live a better life necessarily. 18

BOOMBAYAH Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 The standard of living in America is higher and more expensive so this is lowkey clickbait, but that said Britain has been in decline for at least the past 8 years. 3
brazil Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 Is it so clear though? Even if you get the richest region in the US that is San Francisco according to this, there are so many homeless there compared to anywhere in Europe.
RideOrDie Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 the uk doesn't have to worry about paying thousands for an ambulance trip and getting shot in and out of their homes by the police and lunatics with guns 8
Otter Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 "Some notes on the main chart: • This is GDP per capita, not people’s individual incomes/spending, so it’s best understood as measuring general economic dynamism, not living standards"

But my insurance is only 130$ a month. Not having that money every month isn't making me Mississippi poor like damnnn

But the majority of Brits thinks the NHS is situated out there in the wild waiting to happily subsidise their 2 visits a year to prescribe them paracetamol for every single health issue.

That’s what sad, the past 3 winters have been ridiculous with no sign of improvement. Living in a Western country yet not being able to put your heating on for an hour a day (which obvs does nothing to heat your house) is ridiculous. Edited August 12, 2023 by sk8erfan

A lot of states are actually cheaper than the UK (if we’re talking Mississippi not California). A lot of towns in England especially the north are so run down and neglected, I’m not even surprised. The whole country is crumbling under the tories.

My aunt had to wait forever to have a surgery (she lives in London) and ended up getting more sick. The same thing happens in Canada, you have to wait forever and the doctors don’t really care. im not sure about other states, but since I started working I’ve always had insurance, only had to pay my copay ($20-$50 on average) the UK is a country in decline (so is the US don’t get me wrong) but the UK is on free fall: ugly weather, weak economy, irrelevant on the world stage, ugly people etc. The only thing keeping it afloat is its banking system. 1 1

This is what I meant on my comment above. I have multiple options in the US and I don’t have to wait till I’m close to death to be seen by a doctor.

byzantium Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 Something to note, is I think wealth inequality in Mississippi (the US in general) is more extreme. So on average a person in Mississippi might be doing better, (entirely believable honestly), the poorest parts of Mississippi are still worse than the poorest parts of the UK. 1 1

A diagnosis of cancer in many countries who don't hate their citizens doesn't often result in bankruptcy and losing one's home like it does often in the US. 6 hours ago, Sparksfly88 said: Hmm not sure. Spoiler: There are wait lists in the US. It's called being poor and never going to a doctor at all. Labor is a finite resource. That labor should be and in productive societies is prioritized to who needs it most, not to those who can pay the most first. Edited August 12, 2023 by Communion 4
