Blackout2006 Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 (edited) ...After 10 years. Jk, it's lowkey a bop so I don't see why it gets a lot of hate on the site. However, I guess when you're coming back right after the experimental masterpieces of TFM, and BTW, releasing a song that can be considered very safe for then-Gaga and at the same week of Katy releasing one of her biggest hits of all time ended up nowhere near her favor. Is it a safe song though? I never understood this argument. What song sounded like Applause at the time? And it had the most unrelatable and strange lyrics of any Gaga single up until that point. 7 2
Hurem Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 The way this song was called a flop and now it’s 5x platinum 3

dumbsparce Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 (edited) This is by far her best song. Over the top campiness and unrelatability done right. It's sad how it's the last truly GAGA single. Edited August 12, 2023 by dumbsparce 1

She was diving into whatnot genres at her prime from glam rock, disco, heavy metal, and industrial elements to a mid-2010s EDM-pop song with a hint of Eurodance ig.
MoonGoodandHappy Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 Her 3 first lead being SMASH HIT. This woman is not respected enough.

naval23 Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 Wow a hit!! Basically on the same level as Born This Way :O
Ger Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 I love the song, to me it has always sounded like pop perfection. The production is catchy and addictive af. Back in the day, I heard it for the first time on the radio in a pharmacy, and I remember thinking "Oh, this is coming hard, this is so good". It deserved more, but I guess it had to do with the lyrics.
littlebodybigheart Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 this song is amazing. gaga’s best song in my opinion
besaid Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 This song would've been a 10 week #1 in 2011 if released instead of BTW. BTW is a great statement album but it really damaged her broad appeal.
