shelven Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 It took the #1 over the new release from V, a BTS member, which also came out today. Notable lyrics from the song include: Quote These rich men north of Richmond Lord knows they all just want to have total control Wanna know what you think Wanna know what you do And they don't think you know, but I know that you do Cause your dollar ain't ****, and it's taxed to no end 'Cause of rich men north of Richmond Quote I wish politicians would look out for miners And not just minors on an island somewhere Lord, we got folks in the street, ain't got nothing to eat And the obese milking welfare Well God, if you're 5 foot 3 and you're 300 pounds Taxes ought not to pay for your bags of fudge rounds Is the next Jason Aldean already upon us?
GraceRandolph Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 This is what happens when pop music fails to produce new stars.
Odette Violet Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 Not even the top 2 most popular member of the biggest bg of the world can stop this MAGAs
PoisonedIvy Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 (edited) I will say, middle class white people are the huge majority of the US population still, and country music is the local genre that “appeals”/caters to to the American way of life in its writing. That’s becoming more and more apparent in the post Trump landscape. The world is so politically divided now. Country music was primarily just stories about your hometown, going out drinking, falling in and out love, etc. It reflected the simple, much less politically charged lives of middle class Americans. But now, after the chasm Trump wedged into our society, these kinds of songs “reflect” the life and outlook of middle/working class (white) Americans. He put politics at the forefront and we’re witnessing the result of that. Edited August 11, 2023 by WeFoundTrouble 2
Emperor Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 I had enough , guys don't be surprised if I randomly drop a MAGA song All you have to do is just sing some " I love america RAAAH , no gay **** in our town " and you can just get free money, currently the easiest scam in America 1
X~MoviePoP Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 Iggy could use this crowd to her advantage tbh LOL...what a mess
vale9001 Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 (edited) even the voice contestants songs go #1 on itunes. I mean doesn't seem a big news. Jason Aldean song is disappearing from spotify. Edited August 11, 2023 by vale9001

Jason Aldean outselling Jungkook was the first warning sign that he was doing genuinely huge numbers instead of just being another generic iTunes #1 that falls twelve hours later.
Katamari Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 I wish politicians would look out for miners And not just minors on an island somewhere this song is so unserious
SignificantOther Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 (edited) Those lyrics are awful. Edited August 11, 2023 by SignificantOther
RockStarShit101 Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 using iTunes in 2023 is laughable. These magas are ridiculous.
Walk_Away21 Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 Nobody normally uses iTunes. So it takes like 50k people in a country of 300+ million to hit #1 there. Stop giving these things attention.
bad guy Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 (edited) All these meltdowns and threads on here over a dead ass platform Edited August 11, 2023 by bad guy
DatChickDoe Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 This song reflects mental illness. The whole MAGA cult are some of the dumbest brainwashed people.
pride4jc1222 Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 This may be the sales #1, but I highly doubt this going to debut very high on the Hot 100. Compared to TTiaST, this seems tame and nowhere near as controversial.
Kim Petrat Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 how do people even hear about these songs and get the ball rolling in the first place? i never even see or hear anything about them until they’ve already somehow hit number one
Achilles. Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 As a fan of country music, it’s so so upsetting that **** like this, that Aldean trash, and Morgan Wallen are representing the genre in public discourse while some of the best working songwriters in music (ie: Brandy Clark, Lori McKenna) can’t even break 500K monthly listeners.

Nobody is actively consuming (streaming) these songs on a mass scale for this to be of concern. There will always be cults bulk buying these fad songs but they’re a loud minority not majority
