ALA Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 hopefully this is a 1 week thing. The only positive I see is if Morgan Wallen is blocked from the H100 record but sheesh...

I thought earlier this week everyone was dismissing it because despite the sales it didn’t have any streams + radio Yeah he’s gonna win
Bonicap Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 (edited) If you don't see how this country song is tailored political propaganda for US conservatives and far-right you haven't been paying absolutely any attention for years. It's literally an anthem against taxes and welfare state and fuels the conspiracy of "the democrats are a social elite of pedophiles and manipulative billionaires who want to control your mind and your children". It's pretty clear why far-right clowns are rallying behind this song. The republican politicians have brainwashed their voters so much that they think they are fighting against the establishment instead of being exactly Rich Men living North of Richmond. Dkdjdjjd shut the **** up. i don't think the majority of the people who put this song to #1 on AM are decrypting the lyrics or reading think-pieces like y'all do all they get is a song about taxes so nah, f**k the shut up 2
Buffy Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 There was a post I read yesterday of Taylor having a #1 streak every year since 2014 or something. Can someone help post a timeline of the years she’s had a #1 single again?

Why should poor people have to give their money to Joe Biden, Donald Trump, etc? Only millionaires should pay tax. Poor people should pay ZERO tax. it's an absolute disgrace that poor people are forced to give money to rich people to spend on wars in Ukraine. Tax should be abolished except for the super rich.

Do you...think Donald Trump receives Medicaid benefits? Are you claiming Joe Biden is signed up for food stamps? What are you talking about? Your post suggests you don't know any people living in poverty nor are you familiar with how welfare works. 22 minutes ago, Tsuko said: Only millionaires should pay tax. No, someone making six figures should also indeed pay taxes. Why do you think the Top 10% of our nation shouldn't contribute just because they're not part of the top one percent? Are you claiming someone who makes $400k a year is considered poor? I grew up in a household of 4 with a disabled single mom with a yearly income of $12k. Are you suggesting that someone making $12k a year and someone making $400k a year are part of the same class? 22 minutes ago, Tsuko said: Poor people should pay ZERO tax. Many peopoe on welfare have an effective tax rate of 0% often because many of these people are disabled and can't work. These people are who the song vilified. Why are you defending rural middle class resentment to poor people on welfare? Do you think someone who makes $180k in Virginia a year being a owner of a local trucking business is somehow considered "working poor"? The singer was already exposed as an upper middle class Virginian living in Richmond who had a cushy sales job for a wholesale machine parts company and was clearing six figures yearly. Why am I meant to feel like someone who had a six figure job is correct in idolozing right wing millionaires and billionaires yet hating poor people on welfare? Edited August 15, 2023 by Communion

What are you talking about? lol no. Poor people pay their money to politicians and politicians choose how to spend it. Sorry for the misunderstanding. This is immoral and has to stop. Only millionaires should be paying tax. People who are working and just scraping by each month (which is the reality for millions of Americans, which is why this song is #1 on Apple Music atm) should not be giving their money to politicians to spend on whatever they like. Only the super rich who have too much money that they don't need should be paying taxes. We need to stop taxing the poor. Only the rich. People who are struggling to make ends meet should NOT pay tax when they barely have enough money to feed themselves.

Sis, these word games only out you as a libertarian trying to downplay their right wing views. What you're describing is how a government inherently operates. "The government has a budget". Yes, that's how all governments work. Again- the song vilifies welfare as a government program on the claim that the government should not redistribute money from the rich to the poor. Why are you defending the singer attacking programs like Section 8, Medicaid and SNAP? 7 minutes ago, Tsuko said: Only the super rich who have too much money that they don't need should be paying taxes. So someone who makes $400k a year is rich but "not super rich"? Why should someone in the top 5% of earners not pay taxes? 7 minutes ago, Tsuko said: We need to stop taxing the poor. So you're going on record as saying someone who makes $150k a year should be considered poor but someone who makes $25k a year and thus qualifies for several forms of welfare is considered a "fat, freeloaders fudge eater"? Is this not an admission that you hate poor people? What else could you be suggesting in claiming that welfare is bad besides that poor people deserve to starve or die or be homeless due to being poor? Edited August 15, 2023 by Communion

The yearly streak isn't true, but if CS were to go #1, she'd have a #1 from every consecutive era since Red (tying her with Mariah and Rihanna - both also with seven consecutive eras): Red (2012) 1989 (2014) reputation (2017) Lover (2019) evermore (2020) folklore (2020) Midnights (2022) this is not counting the re-recordings; just the studio/original albums.

People who are struggling to make ends meet should not be taxed. If you want families who are struggling to feed their children and pay their bills to give money to the Government, then I think that's why we disagree politically I guess. I think only the rich should pay taxes. There is PLENTY of money to do everything we need if the millionaires pay their fair share. 1
