How big of an age gap is too big when it comes to dating?

I like someone that is older than me but I also don't want someone twice as my age. How big of an age gap is too big when it comes to dating?

Anything greater than 6 months is borderline criminal IMO

Depends on the age.

An 18 year old dating a 22 year old is creepy. A 30 dating a 60 year old is fine.

18 and 22 really isn't creepy imo

I would at least start with a 97 year age gap minimum, but adjust based on the personality

It is. You’re a 22 year old dating a teenager. By 22 most people are finishing or done with college starting their lives. You have more life experience. There’s plenty of people to date. So why go after someone who is barely out of high school.

As long as both are 18+, everything goes

5 years and up are very noticeable gaps tbh

1-4 years gaps are not too weird/bad

Half of the older person's age plus seven is what I adhere to.

If it's legal it's fine.

Depend what age are u.

A 26 dating a 36 is fine. a 16 dating a 26 not at all.

After u turn 21 i think it's not that deep to date anyone 10/15 years older... it may not be a match, but it can work very well  in some cases imo.

I'm 26 and i would be into dating anyone that's like under 36. not +15 cuz i don't see myself with a 40, but +10 would be fine AND i think it could be interesting btw, more mature, independent and stuff.

i'm dating a 25 (1 year YOUNGER )  and in love tho

By your early 20s you're mature enough to understand the inherent power imbalance in a relationship with a big age gap and if you consent to that, any downsides are on you. People could look at you funny if the age gap is big enough but it's hard to go wrong between consenting adults.

If you like him this means you need someone is more adult than you or you wouldn't be attracted. So what universal rule do you search?. Live your Life free and in the way makes you happier.

Perched for the mess..

Up to a 10 years gap. A wider gap would be weird.

But I also think that it shouldn't be anyone's business if everyone involved is of legal age.

I know sis, but I just don't want to date someone that is in there 40s. It would look wired.

I would say 7-10 years rule of thumb but the acceptable gap increases exponentially as the young partner gets older. Eg. a 40 y/o with a 60 y/o is way different than an 18y/o with a 38 y/o.

So what's the point of the question. If you feel It's weird or you don't like the idea what can change what we say.

There is nothing "creepy" about it. When you're 22 you're still very young and learning things in life. With your logic a 28 year old should not be dating anyone below 25 either, as they have SO much more life experience as well. And it goes on and on and on.

You can think it's inappropriate for a 22 year old to "go after" someone who is 18, but if they start dating due to happenstance there is nothing creepy about it.

You are correct a 28 year old shouldn’t be dating someone 25 for those reasons.

I think its all subjective, as long as its not illegal but... could I date a younger or older person? Probs not, they'd have to be in my generation personally (health, energy, mindset, same interests etc)

Posted

As long as it's legal there's no issue really. If you like someone, age difference doesn't matter at the end of the day (again as long as it's legal)

if youre over like 20... the limit does not exist

Then I don't agree at all. You want to eradicate a large portion of relationships with this mindset - relationships that are completely normal and healthy.
