so being a fan equals to being an unrealistic delusional cupcake? :)

No? But if you’re obviously not enjoying your time here you don’t have to ruin it for everybody else :michael: it’s like the crusty Star Wars fans who haven’t liked a movie since the originals but are still here for some reason

SL!UT needs to be the winter single :clap3:. Perfect dreamy 80s synthpop that'll fit right next to Last Chrismas this upcoming holiday season :jonnycat:

Did you hear the 12th note that was held for .03 seconds longer and the pitch of note 37 was a quarter sharper??? You can also tell that Taylor didn’t take a sip of Diet Coke or take in the same amount of oxygen prior to the first note. It’s a completely different song and ruined!!!

What is your vault track ranking sis? I don't think I've seen it here :gaylorcat2:

Oh girl asking me to rank ANYTHING is an impossibility since for the first 10 listens it'll change every time. However, I had Say Don't Go stuck in my head at the gym this morning (so I just listened to it over and over) and it was really cute :gaycat4:

NTWDT is not getting the credit it's due, and I love an underdog so I'll call that #2 for now, then probably IION, then ****, then Subaru Lesbians (thanks miss @Golden Hour) last. I think SL requires the deepest lyrical fathoming, so it'll just take time. I do love them all, though.

As for the main album, I regret a few of my hasty breakdowns from the leaks yesterday, I really should have known better. That being said, the Bad Blood pre-chorus is still weak and the New Romantics chorus was put in the wrong spot in the mix.

So no Vault music video for this one? It feels like she is just dropping this one and dipping :skull: Maybe she's just sick of this album lol

The only song that doesn't really fit the 80s sound is Say Don't Go. It's still a good song but it sounds more like a red pop song than a 1989 one

The fact that there's no music video or instant single push is a guarantee that TS11 is right around the corner :gaycat4:

its the chorus. theres a synth or an instrument missing.

Even if that’s the case the song is by no means ruined or botched. :jamming:

What Red song does it remind you of? It sounds extremely 80s and 1989 to me

If Say Don’t Go debuts higher than #10, it will be Diane’s highest-charting song of the 21st century.

Faith Hill - There You’ll Be (10)

LeeAnne Rimes - Can’t Fight The Moonlight (11)

Justin Bieber - Born To Be Somebody (74)

Lady Gaga - Til It Happens to You (95)

Taylor Swift - Say Don’t Go (??)

Only 4 charting songs this entire century yet her name remains on everybody’s lips. A legend. :jonnycat:

SEND IT TO NUMBER 1 GIRLIES!!! it's only right. It's only destiny.

track by track thots after playing the entire thing a couple of times

Spoiler

WTNY – still a skip
BS – Different. I'll get over it but I'll miss the tiny details :/
Style – It's fine, sounds like the tour version
OOTW – collapse, lifes were changed (mine)
AYHTDWS – I was worried cause it was one of my favourites but it delivered
SIO – Just ok, some details are missing but I can live with it, it was never a song I'd go to listen to unless in the context of the full album anyways. But It'll serve its purpose to be licensed and used so that's all that matters I guess.
IWYW – Great except for the last 5-10 secs that were kinda JARRING but I got used to it pretty quickly after a couple of listens
BB – weakest song on the album in 2014 and weakest song on the album in 2023. At least now I heard the correct lyric on the bridge tho!
WD – So used to this I dont even remember how the original sounds like anymore
HYGTG – Whitney was in the room when she rerecorded this, no other explanation. The song went from skip to a collapse
This Love – Same as WD, I do remember thinking the vocals were much better here
IKP – the updated vocals elevated an already good song
Clean – I wasnt sure at first cause the vocal is very obviously 9 years apart from the original but the song is so beautiful and Imogen carried with her production and background vocals so the song remains a favourite. They really snapped on this one

Wonderland – Still a bop. This instrumental was probably the closest to the original or one of the closests imo
YAIL – Hack must still have some love for Lena considering this was an immaculate recreation
New Romantics – a classic. The real opening track of 1989 iktr

Slút! - is just ok maybe a bit juvenile... idc theyll call me a slur if im with you is giving me at 21yo holding my bf's hand and getting f4ggots yelled at us :deadbanana2:
SDG – I can see why it was left out, even tho it deserved a spot on the 2014 deluxe/target exclusive but I really REALLY REALLY like it
NTWDT – sounds like it belongs to Midnights more than 1989 ngl, not a favourite. A Question... for the Labyrinthic Masterminds
SL – lowkey regret making a friendship bracelet for it, cant wait to give it away now ngl. Another Question... for the Labyrinthic Masterminds tea. Perhaps it wouldve slapped with production more on the vein of IWYW/IKP
IION? - a collapse! The start tricked me into thinking she had You're Losing Me'd  another vault track but the switch was welcomed and was serving OOTW in the best possible way

The one take away is that I hate her for not making the cover textless like the other rerecordings but I'll survive since most times I'm not looking at the cover of the songs playing and I dont display vinyls lol.

The album will age really well in this updated form I believe. My one critique is that the vault is a bit too samey and 2020s Taylor sounding. I expected at least 1 song like this considering Dont You & I Can Skip You exist but not all of them to sound like 2020s Taylor

We will be streaming the full Taylor's Version. Cant wait for the cd to arrive as well so I can blast it in the car

Style is horrific but the rest? The best TV so far by a lot. All of the additions and tweaks work to improve upon the one of the six I thought could use the least improving but she proved me wrong. This is truly incredible and is the standard moving forward for the TVs.

Shame about Style tho.

about the vault songs, say don't go is the most 1989 one.

It's like a mixture of the straight-up pop songs and the acoustic ones. It's like How We Get The Girl, which is the song I still think sounds out of place on 1989 cause it reminds me of Red as well (WANEGBT/ 22)

edit: wonderland don't really belong on the album as well. It sounds very 2013. No wonder it's a fan favourite (especially on atrl)

The mixing on the Bad Blood Remix is atrocious. Who decided to have Kendrick’s vocals sound so reverb-y??? I’m definitely disappointed with that one.
