tiejc Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 (edited) The grand jury has returned 10 indictments Edited August 15, 2023 by tiejc
Vermillion Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 Under Georgia law, the indictments go straight to a judge. The judge has the option then as to what he'll do with the indictments. It's just printed on paper and he didn't read it out.
Vermillion Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 They didn't show the jury on camera for obvious reasons, including possible death threats. The indictments are still sealed. But we do not know yet who was indicted for what. Although the Reuters reporting earlier today was pretty thorough.
Vermillion Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 Katie Pheng (MSNBC): Only takes 12 of the 23 jurors for each indictment for this to go through. The 10 indictments don't translate to 10 people - it's different "fields" of charges. Can be multiple co-conspirators under each kind of charge. All indictments (ten) given to the grand jury were all voted affirmatively. Georgia clerk will process within the next three hours for public release.
loveisdead9582 Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 Alright, so what does this mean going forward for everyone involved?

The prosecutors got everything they wanted in the state of Georgia. It's a state crime so if Trump wins next year he can't pardon himself for them, unlike Jack Smith's January 6th and Mar-a-Lago cases. Unless SCOTUS intervenes to permit a self-pardon, in which case the United States faces a constitutional crisis and all hell breaks loose. 1
Onyxmage Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 I never had on my Bingo card that the state of GEORGIA would save democracy in 2024.
