I had to learn how vpn works to listen to it.. I was prepared for the worst, but I genuinely love it.. It's fun and it's completely different from her previous works..  And I don't understand the NDA and sucker comparison, this doesn't sound like any of those..

 I do think Olivia could eventually be good in that No Doubt/Hole/Alanis space, but I don’t think she has the maturity/perspective yet to make work that can sit alongside them instead of work that just seems influenced by them.

I don’t consider Lorde alternative just like I don’t consider tons or these “alt girls” alternative. It’s just a label that stuck with them that has nothing to do with the actual genre of their music — but still, Lorde has actually dipped into alternative territory before and has actually release some pretty non-conformity music, even on Solar Power lol Cuts like Fallen Fruit are straight up… Altpop music. 

 

Olivia is clearly making pop rock to the likes of early Demi Lovato and Kelly Clarkson — and she’s doing it pretty well. By calling it “alternative” you’re just trying to make it distant from pop music as if pop couldn’t be just as good or respected. Nothing “alternative” about Olivia. And that’s okay!
