Happylittlepunk Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Nope 1940s was far worse if you wanna go further the American civil war is far worse not too mention the napoleon wars and French Revolution was far worse too. let’s not even get started about the Middle Ages.
SidetoSpears Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 (edited) I mean just cause it's the craziest times doesn't mean they're saying it's worse now than it was during the Black Plague or something. I just feel like it's just a comment on how many weird things we're encountering like... as a species. Sort of like we are at the human history equivalent of like, when Nicki Minaj first set up her Snapchat and couldn't post anything because she was getting too many messages. It's just kind of nuts. That said, I feel like our experience of fear/climate anxiety/existential dread is the same as it was for past generations. It's all relative — humans have always thought they lived in the end times! Even if we have come to that conclusion through "objective" means (the best science available right now), our fear isn't any different of an experience than what ancient civilizations felt when they thought of the imminent rapture/flood/etc. It's all terrifying and kinda whack now as it was then. But like, we will probably find a funny solution to everything. I mean, peasants thought the divine right of kings was inescapable in the past, just like we see the supremacy of techopolies, psycho Evangelicals, etc now; things change, even if it's not substantially better, it'll stave off like human extinction I feel. The (feat. Pitbull) of species, i fear we are always here Edited August 2, 2023 by SidetoSpears
NoOneDiesFromLove Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 "craziest" in the sense that a bunch of overwhelming **** is going down and everyone knows about it right away because of social media and stuff, but not worst. Also, "craziest" because manjobi was released this decade and that was my 910 + 1
elevate Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 The problem with everyone saying plagues, feudal wars, etc, is that the comparison isn't fair. The global reach / communication was obviously nothing like today. Considering how connected we are, it is ridiculous what we're still putting up with.
imabadkid Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 once covid ended I thought everything would completely go back to normal but the world (at least the US) is a diff place compared to what it was pre-covid. were definitely living in crazy times compared to 2012/2013/2014.

I feel like it would be crazier times in the feudal era or something In terms of this decade, living standards have decreased the last 2 years in 90% of countries according to the UN. House prices are also out of control with buying a house almost unattainable for multiple generations and rental crises in nearly every major city. We also have seen the far right rising at an unprecedented rate. It might not be the worst it's ever been but I don't think it's the best. 1
Flanders Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Maybe, so far… it’s only gonna get crazier as the climate issues get worse and worse. I’m legit scared
Minogue Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 (edited) 1940s and 1910s sweetie Edited August 2, 2023 by Minogue
Gesamtkunstwerk Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 With the housing crisis world wide, climate change, social media, physical and mental health crisis, rise of right wingers and over consumption I can only assume that we've seen nothing yet Idk if I think it's the craziest times of all human history, but for our life time, it's going to get... interesting in the future, to put it lightly.
