Big Bad Wolf Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 (edited) Obviously, it's iconic, one of a kind, show-stopping, legendary, not afraid to reference or not reference....but does the reference it borrowed from age her stage name for 2023 standards? Just an honest question. Keep it cute! Personally I feel like it sounds very 80s and like it could be the name of a band or duo. Edited July 28, 2023 by Big Bad Wolf
Cameltoe Chariot Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Most just call her Gaga these days, the "Lady" part is just extra flair. And I think it aged well too, considering it's etched into an Oscar 12 2

Well her name is loosely based off Queen’s Radio Ga Ga lol. OT: Most people call her Gaga or Stef now. Maybe bc she spent some years avoiding the “Lady Gaga” character she created to showcase a more human side, which prob explains why it aged a bit.

Abracadabra Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 No, her stage name has become so iconic and ubiquitous that it's become timeless. 4 4
Triton Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Yes, she kind of show herself on the foot with that one. The novelty wore off, it’s not cool or edgy now. It’s honestly why she struggles to make a cohesive album or get great reviews, such a wacky name and it’s hard to connect to it. 1 4
Magdalene Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 stephanie germanotta rolls right off the tongue her fans would be called the lil germs 1
Infatuation_Junkie Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Ofc! It was iconic 15 years ago, it’s iconic today, and will still be iconic in 20 years. 3 1
Just a Gay on ATRL Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 I agree, she's a method actress now didn't you know, she becomes whoever she is playing then and there, today it's Harley Quinn, tomorrow it's Patricia again, the next week it's Ally. She will drink every ounce of an empty prop cup until she FEELS their art dripping inside her and emanating through her pores until she releases their ART to the world through the silver screen. Soon, when she has lived every life through performance art that she possibly could, all of her character will photosynthesize into a nameless sentient being beyond our universe and will live beyond the need for conventional stage naming standards. When the aliens come to take us to Planet Venus, they will know her by only one thing and one thing alone: not her name, no not that... her artpop 3
babyforlife Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Most ppl nowadays just call her Gaga.. and it suits her brand so much, only Tony called her Lady
JoeAg Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 nah, I think it's iconic and a cultural fixture of a name. for a second there, it may have looked like it could've aged badly, but around 2018 when she started the ASIB era, it felt like it officially transcended just her music and everything about her was amassed together to push her star even farther. all the years of queer advocacy, awesome pop music, and funky outfits were added to the stripped back Gaga and Lady Gaga has remained as a cultural fixture. I think it's impossible to erase her from the pantheon of pop history. I can't imagine pop culture without a Lady Gaga tbh 4 2
Blue Rose Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Yes. Let's officially drop the Lady. She deserves to be in the 1 name diva pantheon (Madonna, Cher, Beyoncé, Rihanna)
Patrick Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Her name is Harley Quinn until the Oscar nomination morning that doesn’t pan out.
