What on earth is going on in the charts in America?

I just looked at billboard top 100... On next weeks chart the top 3 singles will be country songs.

Really odd considering that type of music doesn't do anything anywhere else. I mean I get 1 single but the top 3 seems odd, is something changing in the music landscape over there? :michael:

Charts are reflecting what's going on in America sadly so it is what it is :chick3:

Exactly, and Millboard is an AMERICAN chart.... also, country music has become way more popular amongst younger people as most country sounds sound very Pop or Rock oriented... I'm one of those, it's probably my fave genre of the past 5-10 years and I'm a pop stan...

It’s not that crazy y’all, hip hop is also pretty local and it’s not crazy to see a top 3 of that genre as well at points in the past. While I agree the reasons for these country artists gaining support is awful, I think it’s lame to write off a whole genre just because it doesn’t do well in other countries

I wonder if Aldean's sales are organic-ish (??) due to people supporting him after the backlash or if there's mega discord chat or something with Republicans finding ways to buy the song. :deadbanana:

It’s what people are actually listening too. Main pop girls and rappers aren’t making noise anymore, and the ones that are have over saturated the sound of disco and and other trend hopping.

Thankfully the music is now Global so we don't have to worry that much about what's hot in the USA.

half the country voted for MAGA and will again next year. Is it really that odd or is it demographics. There’s an audience.

This. Most countries have local music that's not well known internationally, not sure why people are shocked by this

i don't agree in a global scale.

karol g and shakira are very strong atm

miley had flowers, taylor is the biggest artist in the world and will have the biggest tour ever

barbie has been having giant cultural impact, getting soundtrack hits -- by pop girls.

newjeans EP charting non-singles at the global charts

all of those things are also big on the USA but there they have a messed up political scenario and it's MAGA/country appreciation that it's affecting the charts (hence it's billboard's top 3.)

Country Sells well! Most 80s-80s artists have gold-3x platinum records. George Strait has stadium records forty years in their careers. Willie Nelson has made over 70+ albums and still touring and making music at 90 years old

Taylor is the industry now so country songs flooding the charts isn't too unexpected. Pop is dead, dance music is dead, rap and rnb are on the way out.

"Middle-America"/ Trump Voters/ the Country music audience have now fully transitioned to the streaming era and now we're seeing the effects. There's a lot more of them than you'd think based off social media :michael:

Country music was always a huge genre in the USA but a latecomer to the streaming era, as they held on to the traditional system of album sales + radio airplay for the longest. But now country audiences are fully transitioning to streaming and we're seeing the effects of it on the charts.

3 songs being sung by racists in the BB top ten must be some kind of ****** up record

Isn’t it pretty common for there to be artists in a country that are only big in that country?  Helene Finscher and those Jpop and Brazilian artists come to mind.

What does global have to do with the US charts? The simple answer is that country is popular in the US. And always has been. And some of the artists you mention are US artists that also did country.

Wait until you see Mexico's Spotify Top10 :rip:

every country has their own cultural music, don't they?  In America, it's country music.  Plain and simple.  Maybe you don't hear it in the cities you went to college in, but I can guarantee the entire rest of whatever state you live in (blue or red) besides those big cities are listening to country music.  I'm not surprised by any of this.  Now that they've discovered streaming it's over for hip-hop.

We're into a transitional phase, it's the cycle of the mainstream scene. And of course, the reasons provided prior to this post also explain pretty well the current state of Hot 100. While pure pop and hip-hop have lost momentum, it's also true Country is probably the hottest it's been this decade. There's a genuine interest in the genre and that is beyond the core audience. Both FC and LN blend nicely with Pop and Rock, they don't necessarily sound too country-ish, which also helps.

It's just a phase, country is pretty popular in the US but not enough to do so well in hot 100. Every week they're posting that it's the first time a country song has achieved such a thing. It's just a phase. Morgan has become a US sensation of late and has brought with him other artists in the genre to be consumed as well.

we had many phases like trap, disco, pop rock and etc, we can only wait to see what's next.

There’s literally nothing wrong with it lmao seeing the same 5 artist on top got boring. It was time for a change…

absolutely.  Hip-hop dominated for far too long.
