Mean Trees Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 In a global western cost-of-living crisis, it's an amazing idea to not legislate on that and just allow families and children to suffer So smart, so amazing!

I wouldn't go THAT far. Labour is just going through a more conservative phase with this guy but they had Corbyn and people supported his more leftist policies. The Democratic Party is full corporate neoliberalism and not much different than Republicans when it comes to economic policy. 1

The Democratic Party in state legislatures>> the Democratic Party in congress. The Democratic Party in many state legislatures actually is currently better than Labour

There is an irony that Labour had someone easily to Sanders' left and now has someone to Biden's right. 1
JayG Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 This country has become a ******* JOKE. I should have left the UK and moved to Dubai in 2018 when I had the chance.

cockatoo Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 I don't understand why he does this. The conservatives are self-destructing on their own and people want change. All he has to do is suggest reasonable alternatives to their policies. Saying "oh don't worry guys, I won't change too much" is just embarrassing. He's going the Tony Blair route but he can't pull it off in the same way
Letemtalk Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 He was put into power to move Labour further to the right, perhaps further to the right that it has ever been before and he's doing that. Blame the people that supported him, because it's been pretty clear that's what he was put there for.
iconicyayo Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 tbh i really don’t know what to think of keir. part of me believes he is just saying stuff like this because he knows britain (england mostly ) always leans conservative and the tories control majority of the media. plus every poll shows the majority supports this policy. i truly do feel he is just doing whatever it takes to appeal to the center + center right which is probably what he needs to do to actually get into power. i would be surprised if he doesn’t change his tune about issues like this when labour win the election next year. it just takes him eating a sandwich the wrong way to ruin his election chances (ed miliband) so i can understand why he’s acting like this. maybe i’m being foolish though and he really holds these beliefs.
Fevesy Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 This man is an actual ******* idiot. The next UK election is literally free to take for Labour - Conservatives are a complete laughing stock and the SNP are freefalling in the opinion polls. If they do win then we're just gonna get the same **** with the Conservatives 2.0 - nothing will change and we'll be stuck with another 20 years of Conservatives after that 1

MANY people I know and work with have left the UK and gone to Dubai cause the tech sector is thriving there and they can easily work remotely. Someone I know who lived in MAYFAIR moved to Dubai and is paying HALF the amount for the exact same, if not better, lifestyle and quality of life.

I'm Indian sis, even if I went to MY ******* homeland, slaves and "staff" are the norm there too. Its... not a better situation in my homeland than it would be going to another metrapolitan country that actually has opportunities in the tech sector (where I work). There a still "slaves" in MANY countries, not just there. Like, please. We have to accept these are shitty norms in many countries, I'm picking the lesser of evils here.
