according to the full article, its 18-23 year olds (well within gen z range), it makes sense why taylor dominates the way she does. beyonce has been more of a millenial-super early gen z (1997-1999) type of appealing artist. also she has very poor streaming numbers, maybe the geographical sample pop also has an effect?

 

these 'beyonce fans are dumb' insinuations are irritating

 

though taylor is truly my #1 fav, folklore was very important in getting me through my finals weeks countless of times in 2020 shes getting me through medical school too so it makes sense!

Wouldn’t a survey like this naturally favor big artists like Taylor due to the sheer amount of listeners she has?

 

Like a survey of the < 3.5GPA would probably also have Taylor near the top  since she has millions of more listeners.

it’s probably more impressive that SZA is so close to The Weeknd and Taylor considering she has SIGNIFICANTLY less listeners than the two of them.

that was my biggest takeaway too. I wish I could say I was surprised but I'm not. There shouldn't only be 2-3 female artists getting consistently streamed on the level of their male peers. That imbalance is crazy. This is why I make it a point to stream and openly support a lot more female artists than male ones. I have some male faves but they get support from everyone and everywhere whereas the women really only get it from other women (and gay men if they're in "diva" oriented genres like Pop, Dance or R&B).
