naval23 Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 Which 2010s album had a bigger impact on pop and music culture?
byzantium Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 Both are great but 1989 was bigger and more impactful. 2 1

thatsmydemi Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 Teenage Dream. No comparison at all when it comes to impact. 4
Popular Post Blue Rose Posted July 22, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 22, 2023 Teenage Dream birthed 1989 so every 1989 impact is Teenage Dream’s too so Teenage Dream wins 15
Sheep Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 TD by far for all. 1989 has hymns though and Taylor breaking up with country was iconic 1
Gladiator Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 Teenage Dream had a huge impact on pop culture based on the visuals alone and it was more iconic because of that, but I preferred 1989 more. 1
nostalgic Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 Teenage Dream is still a great album but quite a few of the tracks have aged like milk 1989 still feels timeless and nearly every song is a flawless bop. 3

Solaria Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 Taylor modeled 1989 exactly after TD. She never would have pivoted towards pop if it wasn’t for the success of albums like Teenage Dream and Born This Way 3
Mr. Stratus Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 I will say Taylor wasn’t selling s*x at all and in fact never had in her pop which is impressive. 1989 is better quality album product, teenage dream singles are better. Katy’s felt big at the time but I don’t see new artists saying Katy inspired them. So 1989 impact. TD more iconic ofcourse 1

youreyesgocold Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 TD is bigger and better imo but I prefer 1989 due to my swiftie bias. I listened to TD way more in that era of my life but I barely play her anymore which is mostly because I feel like I outgrew it and overplayed it. I don’t stream 1989 much either (it’s mid for me in Taylor’s discog) but I at least go back to it once in a while
suneclipse121 Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 TD clears the other album easily. Katy was in her bag for that era.
ImsoLOUD Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 Teenage Dream set the tone. I am not sure how a 2014 pop album was groundbreaking when the other MPG’s (Rihanna, Katy, GaGa, and Beyoncé) had already begun experimenting with pop in their albums (IASF, LOUD, TFM and TD) years prior.
#ADOU Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 Teenage Dream, next. Taylor couldn't wait to "steal and copy" Katy's sound, brand and audience by going "pop". No wonder they didn't get along behind the scenes
Sad Serenade Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 Teenage Dream for the impact but I prefer 1989 (actually like both)
Blue Monday Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 Can we please leave this topic in the 2010s at least for like a month omg 1
Blue Skies Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 TD for all. Blank Space and Wildest Dreams are cute girls though
OnlyManInTheWorld Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 1989 is a perfectly crafted pop album. TD has horrible non-singles.
Thecollegedropout Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 Easily Teenage Dream, tf. That album literally inspired the other you’re comparing.

When Hummingbird Heartbeat is not one of them While 1989 had a horrible singles Bad Blood and Shake It Off - a stain on an otherwise flawless run of singles
