Teenage Dream had a huge impact on pop culture based on the visuals alone and it was more iconic because of that, but I preferred 1989 more.

Teenage Dream is still a great album but quite a few of the tracks have aged like milk  1989 still feels timeless and nearly every song is a flawless bop.

Taylor modeled 1989 exactly after TD. She never would have pivoted towards pop if it wasn’t for the success of albums like Teenage Dream and Born This Way

I will say Taylor wasn’t selling s*x at all and in fact never had in her pop which is impressive. 1989 is better quality album product, teenage dream singles are better. Katy’s felt big at the time but I don’t see new artists saying Katy inspired them. So 1989 impact. TD more iconic ofcourse

TD is bigger and better imo but I prefer 1989 due to my swiftie bias. 
 

I listened to TD way more in that era of my life but I barely play her anymore which is mostly because I feel like I outgrew it and overplayed it. I don’t stream 1989 much either (it’s mid for me in Taylor’s discog) but I at least go back to it once in a while

I am not sure how a 2014 pop album was groundbreaking when the other MPG’s (Rihanna, Katy, GaGa, and Beyoncé) had already begun experimenting with pop in their albums (IASF, LOUD, TFM and TD) years prior.

While 1989 had a horrible singles Bad Blood and Shake It Off - a stain on an otherwise flawless run of singles
