People seething over this while certain acts are completely fine playing in places like Dubai etc where the laws are very similar. :jonny:

If queer Malaysians seem to have negative or conflicted opinions about this, the least we could do is listen to them as we are outsiders to their country and community.

ffffff now they cancel the whole festival, the organizer needs to refund the tickets buyers although it's not their fault. Now everyone gets affected by the whole fiasco :deadbanana2:

IDGAF about what the law says or locals think, if you are scared of two men kissing, you are also the problem.

Oh look, another example of the left cowering to conservatives and fighting amongst themselves rather than banding together to fight the unjust laws. :ace: I’m sorry, but **** anyone that’s coming after Matty instead of the people that keep these laws in place.

I really don't get how anti-LGBTQ+ countries operate or are still a thing in 2023. Not only is it just dumb, but why spend time, energy, and resources on trying to control/regulate something that's just gonna happen anyways? Like all these laws and whatnot are not gonna stop people from being gay. Like???

I think most of you are misunderstanding this. It is the law that homosexuality is illegal. So why don't we, as a community and allies respect those laws until it is decriminalised.

…..how would a law be changed if everyone respects it?

Have you read no history books at all? :deadbanana4:

so if acts like this only make things worse, how exactly do the community in Malaysia expect the situation to get any better by doing nothing?

i get that you don’t like him, but y’all sound stupid.. Religion truly needs stamping out, it’s nothing but hateful and divisive.

Because that's exactly what will happen next month, my TL already full of opposition cybertroopers attacking the gov and LGBTQ community. Matt will get away with his performative activism, back to his privilege country but the community in here will suffer the fallout.

Not to sound insensitive, but from what I've seen in here been said about Malaysia and its laws, the community was going to suffer anyways, even if Matty did nothing from the start. The only difference is now both conservatives and not-too-conservatives are putting the blame on him because the easiest way out is to blame it on his 'western white agenda', instead of asking themselves what's wrong in their own country and how awful it is to deny basic human rights to their people

What a dumb move. You know in what country you perform. The queer community in Malaysia is also not happy about their actions.

Other countries are inspired by the western countries (especially the United States) I mean, wasn't the French Revolution inspired by the American Revolution? Once the western world fixes their problems, the rest of the world will follow.
