KatyPrismSpirit Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 I'll start: The single choices post "Dark Horse" for the PRISM era 1
LOTF Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 I wish Madonna would've exploited her touring potential a bit more lol
wish Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Honestly amazing that Miley's career was able to survive this era
blown away Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Her career was thriving in 2004 and came to such an abrupt end...

prézli Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Not releasing Mood Ring as the lead single of Glory. 1
Virgos Groove Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 (edited) Kylie: I can think of so many, but I'd say not picking a better lead for X, as well as a better vision for the album. She had so much hype after her cancer battle, but blew it with 2 Hearts. Beyoncé: Tidal. Abel: Pushing TMB too early and botching the Dawn FM rollout (+ The Idol, obviously). Drake: Apart from the obvious one (), not putting more effort into HN. A Drake dance album for the summer should've been a home run. Dua: All her droplets and collabs post-Cold Heart. Taylor: Not making LWYMMD a better song. She obviously had to address the Snakegate thing, but there was no excuse for not making a good more radio-friendly single. I feel like this is real. Although it didn't really affect his success, Dawn FM could have been a massive album if it wasn't so suffocated from After Hours, Blinding Lights and his 2021 collabs. If he just gave it some time and released this album in the summer of 2022 or later in the year, it wouldn't have been outshined so much. I can't believe that a masterpiece like Dawn FM only had two top 10 hits and didn't even go #1 on the BB200
M!X Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 If we are ignoring the obvious Chris Brown thing with Rihanna, I would say the following single choices made mad Good Girl Gone Bad era -Rehab not being second single after Umbrella and Breaking Dishes not being single at all, the song had that Timbaland sound that was smashing at the time, everyone was stanning the song on the internet when the album dropped and it was just a #1 smash waiting to happen, the way it was pushed as the last single when the era was over still makes me mad and Breaking Dishes was also being stanned on the net (I am sure some people here remember that viral sims 2 video ). Rated R - I am not sure what the point of the Photographs was other than to be a single, it had will.i.am and that BEP sound that took over the world, it should have been RR > Photographs > Rude Boy, Hard is an amazing song but it should have been released way later or not at all Talk That Talk era - You Da One should have never been a single, TTT should have been instead. Also I think Drunk On Love should have been a single as well, that sample and anthemic chorus might have made it a hit; Unapologetic - Right Now existing and What Now being single when GP clearly wanted Jump; but the worst of all I have to say is Love On The Brain not having a video and general era abandonment during ANTI, if she was going to leave music she should have at least tried hard one last time 2
Selegend Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Rare era. Not the album, i love it, but the era. Performing at the 2019s AMAs when she clearly wasn't ready having a lupus flare-up that caused heavy anxiety; The album cover; The singles choices. Thankfully since then she's making amazing career decisions again and it's currently a very comfortable and positive career situation.

Even though it's my least favorite Gaga album, Joanne felt like a necessary step to get to A Star Is Born, so for that reason alone I wouldn't call it a mistake. Plus, I get the feeling her image/attitude in the early parts of that era are what helped her secure the SBHT based on the bit we saw regarding those negotiations in Five Foot Two. A massive career mistake for Gaga would be either working with someone extremely problematic like R. Kelly (especially on on the worst possible song she could have him on) or ignoring obvious single choices literally every era, perhaps the worst offenders being songs that were already being very well consumed (some of which continue to be so), such as Always Remember Us This Way, Sour Candy, Monster, and Starstruck. 1
tiagol88 Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 2007 for Madonna: hiring Guy Oseary as manager, signing that 360 deal with live nation and leaving warner bros.
allforyou Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Mariah: Delaying Me. I Am Mariah to 2014 instead of releasing it right after #Beautiful… it could've done a lot better and maybe her career would be in a better state now. Britney: Britney Jean. I can understand wanting to make a bold move by releasing Work ***** as the lead single but not promoting it and the album + releasing the worst record of her career didn't help. Christina: She should've released Bionic as the Light & Darkness concept in late 2009 like it was supposed, it would've done a lot better. If not that then not releasing an album in 2014-2015. JT: Doing the Super Bowl in 2018, the backlash he got on social media was insane Janet: Super Bowl 2004. Other than that then not touring for Damita Jo and not focusing on promo in the rest of the world. Toni: Leaving Artista for Blackground Records, they destroyed whatever was left of her career
Big Bad Wolf Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Now I love Chemtrails, but I think about what could have been if she followed up NFR with something similar to it or that expanded on that beachy dreamy LA sound.

And quite shocking too how it all ended for her. Even if it was a stunt I enjoyed it! I was glad to hear an All for you reference in Snow on the beach 🤍 1

It just goes to show how puritanical the US is. If this had happened in Europe, the exact same way, no one would have batted an eye. Edited July 19, 2023 by nostalgic 1
BtDecember Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Taylor Swift: releasing ME! as Lover's lead single. It's her first single with a new record label, and TS7 is the most anticipated album of 2019. She knows she messed that up that she even deleted that atrocious "spelling is fun" line in the album version. She never performed that song ever again after the Lover era and did not even put it in the Eras Tour setlist - her only lead single to not be in any of her tour's setlist (even Tim McGraw was in the Fearless Tour!)
ScorpiosGroove Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 tidal / boycotting streaming for years releasing an album with that man and going on tour II with him after all the goodwill and momentum she had after Beychella
