Britney Spears & will.i.am - "Mind Your Business"

Okay so I completely take back what I said about this being a bop in an ironic way - this wouldn’t even be good as a drag Queen track and I just had my stan goggles on.

THAT being said, for those of us who hate it, there’s still a silver lining: clearly Britney is interested in making music again, and we all know that she can make great music either on her own or with star producers (and, once or twice, even will.I.am). This was a blip, but it might mean bops are coming and that B10 could actually be a real thing in the coming years. So hello, let’s celebrate that

Yeah, Britney clearly was giving a greenlight to her friend, but Will shouldve done more with the opportunity, maybe get a proper current producer, instead of getting lost in his own

Gesaffelstein should remix manjobi

Exactly, this was the perfect opportunity to redeem himself for BJ but decided to be lazy , I hate him as a producer and writer, as a person he seems nice

I'm honestly wondering if will.i.am listened to this song in full after it was mixed and mastered and honestly thought it was good??? Or if he just saw Britney's name attached to it and just wanted to release it because of that.

Like...Elton knew  what an opportunity he had with Britney

Will didn't do **** :deadbanana2:

Yeah, Elton knew that he had to try his best to give the song a chance. His team is objectively great. will's is an absolute mess. He's probably at home following the performance of the song on iTunes :gaycat6:

If Britney decides to release her own music in a near future, I sincerely hope she hires a professional team because eventhough I do not care about commercial success, this is going to be a mess if she still refuses to have some professionals around her

he's stuck 15 years in the past where people thought pop music was going to sound "futuristic", more synthetic, beep boop noises, and it ended up doing the opposite being less overproduced and autotuned. :rip:boomer teas thinking this is hip and trendy like just look at those sunglasses he's wearing. :thing:

I know will.i.am's team is catastrophic and 100% of his singles flop but I am still shocked by the fact will and his label haven't done anything at all for the song beside uploading the audio:dies:

The track is, for worse, a Sony release, and they currently have a block on Britney. So don’t expect much from the label, just will.i.am.

yes, but in 20 years when little kids ask what "Manjobi" is we can always say it was #2 itunes hit :jonnycat:

I reckon will.i.am and Seth Friedman (his business partner) could end up Britney’s new managers.

Britney NEEDS a new professional team of creative and preferably young people who understand how a legend like her should be managed in 2023 and what choices need to be made regarding her official releases.

He really thought that this was gonna sound ahead of our time but it's actually behind our time.

I decided to give myself a full read of his Variety interview and wow, this man really is a delusional narcissist and genuinely believes whatever stuff he puts out is always amazing.

Was topping those tracks a goal for “Mind Your Business?”

“I am competitive. Here it is, 2023, people want to hear this. But they ask, when did I record this with Britney? And is that really Britney on it? Yes, it is. When did I record it? That’s not important. For example, I have a track from several records ago, “Girl Like Me.” I wrote and produced it for Shakira in 2008, but it came out in 2021. That’s a lot of fermenting. Not everything should be instant. If you want to make great wine, there’s no such thing as instant wine. Intoxication on anything that you consume takes a while. ****’s gotta sit around for a minute … fine-tune it, perfect it. Certain things come out when they’re supposed to come out. “Let’s Get Started,” we wrote and produced that in 1999, but didn’t release it until 2003. Some songs take 30 seconds to write and come out that month, like “My Humps.” BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM. “Mind Your Business” needed time. Now, at this time, it is perfect”

Not the iTunes tracking. Bless their souls :deadbanana2:

I wonder if will.i.am decides to work with Britney on her next record, will we put the blame on the people who were praising this song and tagging him on social media with all these iTunes stats?

So, how does moving from ultra-fan to her producer occur?

The first song I did with her was “Big Fat Bass.” Every time I hear that I know that I could have done that better. I love it, but I would change things, still — revisit it. Back then, however, it was that revisiting that resulted in “Scream & Shout.” I had something perfect for “Big Fat Bass,” little catchphrases and its earworms. But “Scream & Shout” became an anthem. She needed something that she could always perform, that would always arouse crowd participation. My follow-up to that, which was my personal favorite, was “Work *****.” Deearn-deearn-deearn-deearn BUGATI. “Work *****” is the sassiest. If any producer asked me for my most avant-garde stuff and my intranational planet-shakers, “Scream & Shout” and “Work *****” are at the top of my check-it-out repertoire.

Oh wow, not him crediting himself for S&S (which was mostly done by Lazy Jay) and Work B (which was mostly done by Swedish House Mafia). No wonder Tulisa sued!
