Of course it's horrible, but still better than anything on Britney Jean.

I was surprised to see the mixed reception for this one... and then I wasn't.

Further proof of a deep generational chasm that divides ATRL into two camps; the twentysomething pop sophisticates with 15 to 20 years of top-shelf pop consumption to their name, and an unruly kid crew with Scream Queens avatars and tributes to Nick Jonas in their signatures. It's not that the latter generation is a lost cause entirely, but they've clearly never heard a "Britney" — that is, they've never encountered a voice quite as distinctive as Britney's. "But I know Britney! Britney Jean was the first album I bought!" First off, ask for a refund. And no, you don't know Britney, you know a very stilted and subdued version of the iconic performer.

The Britney of "Mind Your Business" is Britney as Britney is intended to sound. She very skillfully vacillates between a range of tones; she nasally, then guttural, then grainy, then nasally again, then delicate. (And yes, that's how she's supposed to do it.) She's sultry. She's goofy. She's sounds slightly absurd. She's fully engaged. She's expressive in ways that "technically superior" vocalists just aren't. She is brilliant. You have no idea how brilliant she is.

This is the probably purest attempt Britney has made to harness some of that ineffable charm that made her early work so irresistible. I adore it.

this copy pasta being better than the song :jonny5:

Absolutely TERRIBLE and the worst song Britney has ever released. These are not even her vocals, the songs sounds like it's AI generated. The vocals are tragic!

No way we should be supporting this. I hope this is their last attempt at collaborating ever.

I can't exactly put my finger on it but this song feels like hearing someone shout Merry Christmas to an audience in the middle of March

Britney's vocal delivery is actually really alt-indie on this track

She literally sounds like 2006 Uffie

Awwwwwww I missed the discourse, we’re back yall😂❤️

this song is not good, but I won’t lie…I would’ve happily taken this over body ache, the true ugly child of her discography:jonnycat: It’s unhinged, it’s fun, and the best part of it…SHE sounds like she’s having fun with it.  It’s not meant to be anything groundbreaking or special, it’s literally meant to be a campy f-off to haters, her family/team and everyone trying to make wild baseless conspiracy theories about her. And you can bop your a** to it a bit lol. If this was 2013 I probs would think differently, but given what we’ve been through w her, it’s just nice to hear Britney having a good time.

Why would she agree to this :skull:

It's bad. But I do feel like it had potential....like if the beat was slightly better and if they encouraged that choir like end to some of the song more.

What ruins the song completely is her second verse. He just put so much autotune on her voice it's unbearable.

Exactly. During the "rapping" parts it sounds like the AI generated lines were just plastered together and repeated. They don't sound like a human recording.

Side note -- this will go off in the club though!

so its real Britney voice but with heavy autotune? :-*

No way this is gonna be played in clubs or let alone... anywhere. I'm even embarrassed to play this in the car and tell my friends it's a new Britney song :deadbanana2:

This sounds like AI mixed with another persons voice. Very eerie.

Everything about her situation feels so off and this doesn’t help.

I agree. I would be ok with this on BJ. But then releasing this...NOW?? I honestly don't get it.

Like where would this even sit? It's too obnoxious for clubs and way too terrible for radio.

It sounds like a literal kid trying to sing using the autotune. will.i.am needs to be stopped and i can't believe that Britney actually agreed for this to be officially released!
