Fiona Apple - On The Bound: Always liked this a lot. It does run a little long and get repetitive, falls near the bottom of my When the Pawn ranking but still a really good song

Clairo - 4EVER: It’s got a decent groove to it, not my fave tho

Posted

Ashlee Simpson - Autobiography: Queen of teen angst. Also I like the way she pronounces “eventually” lol

Posted

Isabella Lovestory - Hit (feat. Chucky73): She ran the mother marathon

Posted

Kimbra - Teen Heat: Omg bop, love the way it blows up. Always thought if I revisited TGE I would like it less but this one still hits!

Posted

Mitski - Star: Would’ve preferred pretty much any of her other eligible track nines, this is nice but the album still hasn’t fully hit me yet :/

Lauren Spencer Smith - Love Is An Overstatement: Very much a pass

Posted

Sudan Archives - Home Maker: Love the ominous intro, bop

Posted

Selena Gomez - Revival: Never cared for it sorry, production is somewhat interesting though

Posted

Perfume - Secret Secret: Feel like you were attempting a pander to me… full disclosure Triangle is their only album I know well (although I do remember quite liking Game too) but this is good!

Hilary Duff - Dignity: Whew a hit, love Disney-pop idc

Frou Frou - Let Go: Solid pick!

About to drive across the country so let me get this show on the road before I depart

Hmmm need my headphones but cba to get out of bed… dilemmas!

Victoria Monét - Touch Me: buttery, smooth, gorgeous… a reliable, safe and intelligent pick especially if looking for my points specifically yup

Posted

Nova Miller - Mi Amor: I was about to drag because to be honest submitting her at this stage of the competition is a very unserious pick… however the round was highly limiting. I’m gonna choose to slide on the 18 years thing because that is v unfortunate

Remembering when @luckystrike introduced me to this album and I spammed it for about 2 days before very much being over it, the song isn’t bad, it kinda bops, but very unremarkable and cheesy

Imogen Heap - Just For Now: one of my faves on the album. This entire project makes me think of my brother who regularly played it from beginning to end, like daily shdjdjdjd. Although we didn’t have the best relationship growing up, I am very nostalgic for this, kinda makes me tear up a little. The song is just magical

fromis_9 - LOVE BOMB: tapping my foot a little. This was very fun! I was worried it would veer into abrasive territory with that initial drop but thankfully it did not. Bridge was a cute change of pace too

Posted

Fiona Apple - On The Bound: It’s good but I wouldn’t revisit. I was exhausted by the end

Posted

Clairo - 4EVER: very cute actually. I don’t really know her stuff that well beyond the studio albums tbh but this is distinctive and cool for the theme

Posted

Ashlee Simpson - Autobiography: Interesting pick.  It’s cool, always thought this track had single potential. It’s not really the style of music I listen to on a regular basis but for what it is, this is executed well and the lyrics/sentiment are very fun

Posted

Isabella Lovestory - Hit: Omg. Bold choice. I’m afraid I absolutely hate the opening instrumental. It did grow significantly as the song dropped that noise, like it goes kinda hard? But overall I will be passing

Posted

Kimbra - Teen Heat: The first 80 seconds was very weak, her voice is not attractive enough to dominate the music like that nn. When the track picks up for the chorus section, this is exciting. The extravagant / maximalist production is where her music excels imo but then the dull (almost painful) territory returns again multiple times. It’s a no from me
