smholiv Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Â the pierces - secret never heard of this before but this is interesting, it feels very halloween-esque and definitely fits the theme. kind of cool honestly!
smholiv Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Â bjork - atopos apologies to this sender, I'm not the audience for this [2]
smholiv Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023  alice glass - baby teeth yessss electroclash, this is a dark club bop. kind of like the hyra song im really into this vibe lately. really like it  BOO BOYGENIUS/MITSKI-CORE/SAD GIRL INDIE!! this is a new revolution
smholiv Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Â aespa - illusion nooo way, didn't even realize this would be available. yeah those crunch synths reverberate inside of you, its crazy. they are simply the best kpop group ever
smholiv Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Â corinne bailey rae - new york transit queen I agree this is jarring at first because its such an interesting leap for her, but I quite liked this album and like the sentiment behind most of the music. this is sort of santigold-esque, I like the punk elements, its not my favourite from the album though (I end up liking the more jazzy ones) but nice and coolÂ
smholiv Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 boppy entries, tried to make it clear what my ranking might look like. good job
Sanguine Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 HYRA - REM (No Sleep): LOVE it, the Hyperpoppy elements meshed with its 2010 production just meld together so well creating a perfect pop song. And the outro goes hard, my favorite part
Sanguine Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 Kristinia DeBarge - Powerless: I enjoy this album, it has that classic R&B-DancePop formula of the late 2000’s that’s equally melodic and rhythmic. One of the more dated tracks from there but overall I am bopping
Sanguine Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 Indigo De Souza - Kill Me: OOOOMMMMGGGGGGGG one of my favorite songs of all time easiest twelve ever one of the best songs sent in this game!! I remember listening to this album for the first time during a rough week in 2021 and just being in awe at how emotive the whole thing was while still retaining such catchy, addictive indie rock sensibilities. It’s the exact kind of rock music I love! Years later potentially my favorite album of the 2020s so far. Like I ascended so ******* hard… TELL THEM!! THAT I WASN’T!!!! HAVING MUCH FUN!!!!!!!!
Sanguine Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 The Pierces - Secret: Yeah it’s cool and spooky. I loove most songs in this group so it’ll be nearing the bottom of my rankings but nothing against this! Also the TikTok’d sped up part at the end dhjfj
Sanguine Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 Björk - Atopos: We are bopping yeah. I liked this quite a bit last year, strong mixture of styles. Maybe middle tier here?
Sanguine Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 Alice Glass - BABY TEETH: Yup! Not the type of song you would expect from Alice Glass at all but I’m glad she made this. Will forever associate it with spamming on Christmas Day stuck in my room with corona
Sanguine Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 aespa - Illusion: It’s Aespa so it’s good… my motto. Not one of my favorite songs by them so won’t be ranking thatttt high but still a banger!
Sanguine Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 Corinne Bailey Rae - New York Transit Queen: I appreciate her going for a more experimental sound and this is good, reminds me of M.I.A.
Sanguine Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 Group B was REALLY strong! But I tried to make it obvious which songs I'll be ranking high
Lucky#17 Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 Angelic [1/10]: Danny L Harie & Clairo — Blue Angel Wow this encapsulates the theme so well! Lovely way to start the round off.  Demonic [1/10]: Chrissy Chlapecka — Alpha Another strong way to kick off a theme. I’m liking this one-song-from-each-playlist-at-a-time method a lot!!!
Lucky#17 Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 Angelic [2/10]: YUKIKA — Love Month Crackinuppp @ her second sneak this season. You can never really go wrong with her though!  Demonic [2/10]: Kimbra — Madhouse A very, VERY stimulating listen / interesting discovery. Like ****, this round is already 4/4… don’t know if I’m prepared for how stacked it’s about to get.
Future Lover Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 Danny L Harle - Blue Angel (feat. Clairo): PC music did not age well for me, this wasn't bad but very forgettable YUKIKA - Love Month: one of my favorite songs from her, love it Hannah Diamond - Every Night: I could never get into her music, her vocal delivery is so off-putting Weyes Blood - God Turn Me Into A Flower: HARD pass MUNA - Silk Chiffon (feat. Phoebe Bridgers): the chorus took some time to grow on me but now I like it, lovely song Kelsea Ballerini - HEARTFIRST: this was cute, verging on basic but still very pleasant KISS OF LIFE - SUGARCOAT: the only song I liked from their EP, the instrumental is very nice Snoh Aalegra - I Want You Around: it was alright, didn't leave much of an impression mxmtoon - haze: same as the previous song but I think I enjoyed this one a bit more tripleS - Cherry Talk: such a cute song, they're so consistent
Future Lover Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 Chrissy Chlapecka - Alpha: her vocals are rough but the production kinda saves it Kimbra - Madhouse: I remember not liking this album but I found this one pretty enjoyable HYRA - REM (No Sleep): I'm bopping Kristinia DeBarge - Powerless: very dated in a way I don't enjoy Indigo De Souza - Kill Me: this felt longer than it was, but I didn't dislike it The Pierces - Secret: always found this really annoying Björk - Atopos: her post-Vespertine music is not my cup of tea, to say the least Alice Glass - BABY TEETH: the instrumental was cool, I liked this aespa - Illusion: I found this forgettable back when it dropped but it grew on me a lot Corinne Bailey Rae - New York Transit Queen: not my kind of music but I think I still enjoyed it
