Britney Spears - Toy Soldier

I'm a little nostalgic for this era of pop rn! I was ready to write this off honestly, I've heard Blackout a couple times before but outside of the singles rarely found anything that struck me. I feel like that's a common occurrence in 2000s pop albums though - the non-singles just don't reach the heights of the singles :skull: that being said... with the wave of random bimbocore/hyperpop artists trying to revive this sound I'm seeing this in a new light and finding it kind of interesting. Unsure if I will give it points but I appreciate it nonetheless!

FKA twigs - oh my love

MEGA QUEEN! I loveeee this mixtape so much. I've had this rant before in other song sending games but yeah there's something about this mixtape that makes her as an artist even MORE endearing to me which is pretty crazy since I already loved her.

I think it's the fact that this release (and song) incorporates very modern/relatable elements into her usual fanciful artsy style. Random comparison but this song in particular almost feels like a collaboration with her alter-ego Tinashe :clap3: Idk, I can't articulate it well today but this is excellent and I love it and I kind of wish I sent it

Ravyn Lenae - Xtasy

Easy winner. I knew it right away when I skimmed the entries. Her voice is unreal, the vibe is immaculate, this is PERFECT music. :kitty::squirrel::biblio:

Agnes - Love and Affection

not you not you... killing the vibe. Yet another artist in the R*isin Murphy (gross) school of pop that I absolutely abhor. Anti-ho music to its core, don't want don't want

Chrissy Chlapecka - I'm So Hot

YESSS back to regular excellence programming. Super fun song, not my personal favourite of hers but she knows how to do this form of trashy electropop so well because they're backed up by being genuinely fantastically crafted pop. mega bop

Rachel Chinouriri - I'm Not Perfect (But I'm Trying)

NEED an album from this girl!! All You Ever Asked was one of my favourite songs from last year without a doubt and I think she's done a great job of capturing that magic with something like this. I love that she doesn't blend into the sea of random indie pop girls because she truly understands what a good song needs. The hook is catchy, the energy and momentum are carried the whole way through, and her voice is just perfect for this style of music. Fun bop, definitely getting points from me!! Aside from Agnes this section of the playlist is bopping

Loreen - In My Head

Admittedly not my usual style, but I will mention that the production had some interesting quirks to it that I liked.

Kim Petras - Claws

Easily the best song from the album in my opinion. The synthwave harkens back to some of her earlier music with this added layer of "darkness" that I really like. That chorus is so brilliant and addictive, capturing the best elements of this style of electro pop. Very fun and cool

Rebecca Black - Crumbs

aslkjdf so this sounds rude but this being after the last song is funny to me because it kind of does everything Claws does better. Her revival is so fun to watch because you can see how she's having fun experimenting with different styles. Definitely getting points from me, I can't wait to see the rest of Rebecca's career unfold!

Madonna - Sky Fits Heaven

 it's a song. The late 90s electronica production is kind of cool but that's really all I get out of this, her voice just fades into the background and feels so inconsequential that I can't say I care about the song as a whole.

Azealia Banks - Gimme A Chance

This is pretty interesting. It feels super disjointed (in a purposeful way) which is honestly cool. I find her so fascinating as an artist idk :cri: her influences and inspirations are honestly so random and incorporate so many different styles both obscure and obvious. No comment on the rest.

Kylie Minogue - Fragile

Very atmospheric and cool. I was at the grocery store the other day and Love at First Sight was playing and I was like wait... this pop bop? I should listen to this album because I feel like this was peak Kylie mastering pop. This song is definitely screaming random album track. I would understand if this was a fan favourite but idk this is like... something that needs the context of the whole album to really get into. Isolated it's a nice listen but not points for me.

XG - Left Right

Awesome way to end the playlist. This is so Tinashe'd and fun idk, there's like not much to say about this because it isn't a complicated song, it's just really fun!

I love Jean Dawson, solo by him would have got a 12 probably . This song is somewhere between mid and average

You lucky bastard. I work at one and they don't play ANY of Kylie's stuff. Not even Can't Get You Out of My Head or The Locomotion.
