GraceRandolph Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 I was repeatedly told this by users on this site and by the media regarding AI. Is that the case so far?
Keter Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 AI is the closest thing you rats are getting to meeting god, so be grateful. I, for one, welcome our new AI overlords.
Lana Banana Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 It’s helped me write some motivation letters which ALWAYS takes me so much effort to come up with an inspiration.
GentleEarthquake Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 Mmhm i think both of these options can be true simultaneously
thetea Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 I think it'll be both. There are so many pros and cons to it but ultimately i think it'll destroy so many fields of work.
illia Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 Short-term, it might make things easier. Long-term, millions of people will be left jobless + if we let AI keep getting smarter, they might turn against us (sounds like an idea for a cheap sci-fi movie but it's actually very possible).
Mr. Mendes Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 The minute AI started being inserted into the conversation of replacing living, breathing human beings in fields of work that are dependent upon human expression and skill is when AI became an issue. AI should be there to assist humans in their endeavors, not act as a replacement for them.
Daddy Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 The thing is: we use it wrong. AI should write formal emails, clean the house (good, not those useless robot vacuum cleaner) and other chores so we have more time for art and enjoying life. But instead we let it do the art so we can answer... more mails? It's kinda wild.
Protocol Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 In some ways yes. A.I. has been here for a while. How do you think Google Maps calculates the optimal route through traffic? Everyone having a GPS in their pocket is only possible through A.I. and it's made our lives exponentially easier. At the same time, despite all the advances in technology, we're still expected to work a 40-50+ hour work week for the same or less pay. So that probably won't change.

Lol no it's not. AI, in no capacity, is a thinking thing. Modern day neural networks just approximate functions you tell them to approximate. They can only work if you know how to define the parameters they should fit under and with the data you provide it. There's nothing "intelligent" about them.
loveisdead9582 Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 It will make life easier for those that can afford it. It will ruin life for those that can’t.
