Hmm.... Right in time for Nicki's Album.   I kid, I kid. I'm 100% joking.

We all know radio is the one component in the charts/hits algorithm many have little control over, so to make things even less transparent is a problem for me.

I'll really miss that site. I used to spend hours there during the "4 vs. Dance-pop" era looking at adds dates, spincreases, songs taking off, and the year-to-date charts for Urban/UAC/Rhythmic/Top 40.  Had me feeling like an industry insider when I was younger.

Why don’t put external ads on their site to generate more revenue?

im assuming it’s a way bigger problem than that. :'(

will kworb radio still exist or do they get their numbers from All Access?

It relies on AllAccess data. He could hopefully use the Mediabase "preview" chart daily updates (Top 20-30 currents for each format), but estimates are going to be way less accurate.

Oh wow... now the Hot 100 will be even less transparent I guess :rip:

I enjoyed logging into the old ass site to see some data and discover new mainstream music which is getting played on radio  on specific formats...

I guess some people still have access to original Mediabase?

And is Nielsen no longer a thing?

End of an Era

Aww this is very sad. Perching on AllAccess at 2:03 PM of my time zone was a major part of my chart nerd / stan years. I still check it out when there's a particular song I'm rooting for and tracking. I'll miss it for sure and it's strange to think it will cease to exist...

Also sad for the jobs lost. I hope all the people working on AllAccess can move on quickly

This is tragic.

From Pulse:

"This came as a shock to folks in the industry. Told the staff was only informed only this morning. The short answer explanation circulating is - advertising from labels has dropped dramatically in recent months due to promotion budget cuts, particularly at pop. Label spending is more and more allocated to digital marketing. Not radio. A sad day and emblematic of radio’s diminished stature in exposing and breaking new music. Most of all of course - a sad day for the 25 all access employees who will be out of work. Anyone who has lost a job before knows that it can be an upheaval in life. So best wishes to those folks."

This is giving the beginning of the end of traditional radio.

So the radio will continue but tracking the status is what's going away.

The main ones impacted are chart predictors and us chart nerds but radio is going to continue on as is.

This is so sad in a way. I’ll miss checking the updates from songs I love and keep the previous day numbers in my phone to track them. :gaycat7:

This really is the end of an era. No more overall airplay, just individual Top 30 charts. No adds list, huge margin of error chart predictions, etc. I think it’s gonna cause a lot more disruption than you think.

As previously reported, All Access has shut down their radio charts. Overall radio charts are now impossible to estimate for most songs and in the words of LipPredicts, it’s “the end of Hot 100 predictions.

How much do you think this will impact stan twitter impact over charts?

We don’t need it anymore when it’s predictable and boring! Taylor Swift, or the one racist country guy!

See i have the gift as well :heart2:

Good things must come to an end i guess. :'(

Yeah it’s going to be hard. Songs like Calm Down, I Hope, etc that only remained in the top 10 because of radio are going to be hard to predict around

Do I have to go outside now?

What’s a radio

We'll still get the Top 30 of each format from the official Mediabase public charts, so I don't think Hot 100 predictions will disappear entirely. They'll just have a slightly bigger margin of error because some songs' airplay might be a bit underestimated in predictions if they're at #31-50 on radio formats. But that will rarely add up to more than 10 million AI max at the extreme end.

Would this help prevent mass-rigging now?

Good. Now BTS stans will need to find a job that doesn't involve finding ways to cheat Billboard charts.

Ugh, I thought it was going to happen by Mid August, noooo. I am going to miss it so much.

More limited and private data here we come. :rip:
