I don’t get it. It’s not the same as the blanket forgiveness that the Supreme Court struck down. It’s for people who’ve been on a payment plan for 20-25 years

yeah me too but in da end we r fortunate to have been able to pay it off, hopefully da ones who need it da most can get their debts cleared

People sued loan processors for incorrect record-keeping. IDR repayment plans means your loans are already forgiven after 25 years of payments as long as you never miss a payment and stay impoverished enough to qualify for the IDR. Issue is loan processors have been awful and tracking these 25 year loan portfolios and who made payments when. 

 

The amount being forgiven through forcing the administration's hand is about 2% of all outstanding student debt.
