Wait I just noticed the outro in How To Stay With You. The singing is so subtle but it sounds really good :jonny4:

Hmm idk considering Sam still went top ten, but I’m not trying to start anything….

Sam released in january with literally no competition (and a hit single) and still barely made it. Troye released with hit albums still charting (SZA, Morgan, Taylor)

Okay, the two songs I wasn't vibing with at first have grown on me so much (In My Room and Can't Go Back, Baby). What a flawless album. :jonny:

This was bound to do worse than Bloom on Billboard, especially considering Bloom had an Ariana feature AND had tour bundles to help it out too. Still great numbers though, comparable to SAM SMITH who just had a #1.

Ah so that number is with bundles. He’s doing the same as usual then. Most artists are doing around half of what they used to do around bundle era

I love how gay the cover is.

The sales are totally fine. The album is unapologetic gay, his gayest one - and that was a risk. He knew that from the get go, that cover as a start.

Idk if y'all are aware but there's a lot of teenage girls that like gay artists and stuff as long they're not too gay on how they are represented - they have to act and be a certain way to be "accepted" by them. Yeah, i'm talking about the ones who write Larry fanfics on wattpad and so on. Troye on his BN era was more accepted with his cute sad boy vibe, while his current version is probably "too much" for them lol

Usually LGBTQ+ artists are consumed by these girls and obviously our community, but Troye made that album specifically for our community, and people outside that won't get it. And probably even some people inside our community will think he's doing "too much". His sales would obviously be affected but i doubt he gives a f.

Gloria #7 is definitely not in the barely made category and Sam also made it despite the competition with Taylor, SZA & TXT…💀

This is a really really well produced album and it’s so cohesive. Is it completely my cup of tea? No, not at all but the songs I enjoy I really enjoy. Some of it gives me Cub Sport vibes too which I love.

My standouts are:

Got Me Started

One of Your Girls

Rush

How to Stay with You

What’s the Time Where You Are?

Honey

I don’t understand the hype for Silly at all though. Empty, unfinished sounding song.

Posted

The problem with silly is it's empty sounding, the vocals are drowned by the instrumental, too much whisper.

The hooks are there and the synths are fire. So much potential , still a bop though

last night i couldn't sleep, i had how to stay with you and the sax clicked so hard, i love the song now. and the opener is such a sleek bop. currently overplaying honey. it's definitely his best album, hopefully he gets top 20, deserves top 10 (#1 in a dream :chick3:).

Got Me Started, and Honey especially, are immaculate. Kinda got distracted by these two when streaming the alber, but excited to give the full thing an attentive listen. But I just know that GMS and Honey are both pop perfection

So, it's a nice album. I think nothing comes closer to Rush, probably just One of Your Girls. I needed more uptempo numbers and in general it doesn't feel like a progression at all after his last album. Actually, it sounds more like he went back to his debut record. In a Dream remains his peak so far.

30K for a LGBT-niche artist is more than fine!

Angel Baby would’ve been sucha great outro for the album :jonnycat: but I get why he didn’t wanna include it

Yeah, the same producer is involved. I fell in love with Jesus At The Gay Bar earlier this year and when I heard Rush I knew he would go for that sound, which I love too!

The album is growing on me. It has a relaxing background music vibe

HONEY is the absolute highlight after the singles. Don't fight me :gaycat1:

Always Got The Love sounds like it could've been on this album. I'm not sure if the same producer was involved but it has that vibe.

So, I pressed play after listening to the first four songs again last night. And the middle part is slapping.

Silly sounds like a Leland song.

I have to listen a couple more times before my review.
Honey also grew on me.

The two albums really are companion albums. Even the artwork fits so well together! I'm sure my little aussie twink had that album on the moodboard while "In A Dream" was on Cup Sports moodboard for making JATGB:gaygacat6:

Well… the 3 singles are good!

30k is just... fine. Kinda underwhelming next to his other albums and even TRXYE but we do have to keep in mind IN A DREAM was a tremendous bomb. The singles had way better reception than anyone would've anticipated so it's only up from here if he keeps releasing steady and not taking long breaks.

I still haven't listened to the album, only previews. But the singles have been amazing and I hope he continues to experiment with his sound and do more uptempo music. I also love how unapologetic he is. Prince of Gay-Pop! I just bought the album on amazon. We have to support our community and our artists more.
