Calling something childish because you're over the age of 30 and don't connect with something is such an elder take.

Troye and I are 3 years apart

:rip:  the point is he’s making music that sounds like it’s being marketed toward the under 22 crowd, where he should be making music for an older crowd.

I don't know....I'm 33 and I think this album captures a particular queer party afters energy that defies 20s or 30s (as in, all of my older 20s and 30s friends are enjoying this at afters).

I don't think this album is immature, Troye is going through a natural progression.

His first era was all about being shy, loving a boy for the first time, fighting for rights and some sad boy ****... that moment when you just came out and find a whole new world. On Bloom he started to discover himself a lil more and got into the scene, but still very sentimental and a bit scared at times. Now he's going all out with his sexuality, celebrating his queerness and sharing some stories of the current period. That's just who he is and honestly i feel conected to his discog bc we have the same age and went through similar moments at the same time. I feel like i'm being seen somehow... and i'm sure there's a lot of gays that can relate to it, too.

Also i think this mostly laid-back/chill pop with hints of alternative and some bangers in between fits perfectly his personality and singing tone. That's why it doesn't feel contrived or that he's trying too hard. He knows his strengths and explore them.

this makes literally NO sense -- in what world are you only able or allowed to make music for those that are the exact same age you are. Adele was 20 and making songs that 40 year old moms loved and Kylie is getting close to 60 and making songs that gay 20/30 year olds are loving and connecting to.

You yourself were in other threads talking positively about her latest album and even Disco, yet im sure if you used this same standard, you would she is WAY too old to be releasing the kind of music she currently is. Like which is it

It's fine if you don't resonate with the work, but to diminish it as immature, while praising other music that is sonically and lyrically doing similar things by artists the same age or even much much older, is literally so confusing and weird

I don’t know what you are talking about because I love dance/party music, teenage diary core music is what I personally have an issue with because troye has proven to make songs like rush - which are amazing - so hearing the bulk of tracks 4-10 are not that vibe! I wish they were!!!

What do you want him to sing about though working 9-5 , muscles hurting , bills , getting on grindr with some poppers and hoping to get some? :deadbanana4:

Fantastic album! I’m not sure how anyone could be confused as to why he chose Rush as the lead. It’s easily the most immediately memorable and catchy song on here :cm:

Still Got It is a career highlight btw, I saw it getting some hate earlier and I’m sorry but that behavior is not ok :khalyan2:

My ranking:

1. Still Got It

2. Honey

3. OOYG

4. Got Me Started

5. Silly

6. HTSWY

7. CGB, B

8. WTTWYA

9. Rush

10. In My Room

The fact that Rush is so low speaks to the quality of the album I fear :jonny6:

I took the full day to immerse myself in this project because I didn’t want to give snap judgement opinions. I’ve been a fan of Troye since his debut album, and I’ve found a lot of my sexual journey has mirrored his despite being older.

Like a lot of members have said, a lot of gay teens don’t get to have normal dating lives as teens, so when we get to our 20s, it’s a lot like having our teen scene.

I don’t find this project to be immature at all. It’s cohesive sonically, lyrically consistent and explores varying themes while still keeping to its goal. “Can’t Go Back, Baby” is heartbreaking. Thinking you finally found your person, only for him to betray you? You didn’t just lose the relationship but you lost your friend too. That’s a double loss.

“How to Stay with You” is top tier and a nice callback to the uncertainty he explored on Blue Neighborhood.

Troye isn’t chasing trends, he isn’t trying to be something or someone he’s not. He doesn’t have to carve a new niche or reinvent a sound or whatever, he’s being himself and making great, relatable music for any gay at various points of their journeys. And I thank him for that.

The album is good but a little too simple and nothing made my jaw drop like Suburbia, Blue, Animal & The Good Side did when I was younger.

HOWEVER, while cooking yesterday I was really taken aback by how gorgeous Can't Go Back, Baby is. The lyrics hit me INSANELY hard :deadbanana2:

I think the album will grow on me and Honey needs to be a single.

I'll probably add Easy, In A Dream, STUD (his best song) and Wait on the album to have a few more uptempos

I'm in LOOOVE with this album! :jonny5: I feel like it's definitely his most cohesive album to date. It all flows really well and overall it's just a smooth, chill, relatable listen that makes me wanna dance while walking the streets :hippo:

My only complaint is the album is too short. It could've used two more uptempo songs to balance out some of the slower ones. Hope there'll be a deluxe! Maybe I'll try to combine this and In A Dream, since this feels like natural continuation :clap3:

Top songs: Rush, What's The Time Where You Are?, One Of Your Girls, Got Me Started, Honey :flame:

Don't care for: In My Room (don't think this one will grow on me, feels like it goes nowhere), Silly (only song in which I don't like the voice effects, but might grow on me), and the closing track (just hasn't made an impression on me yet)

Oh, and to all people disliking Still Got It, y'all have no taste :gaycat2:

Yeah this is one of the best albums of the year :clap3: singles were nicely chosen.

Literally many gays experience most stuff in their early to late 20 due to being closeted or being out but censoring their queer true self maybe your past that but many people are not. And having Madonna as a display name who did corny shite like Batuka at her grown age ??

One of Your Girls is probably my fave Troye’s song :clap3:

troye released his last album when he was 22, so it was probably written at 20-21. i think this is probably an accurate reflection of the last five+ years of his queer experience and don't get the immature vibe at all

I know he’s waiting on tour because he wants to serve MPG but man I can’t wait to see him live. :jonny5:

The way I stanned One Of Your Girls, but the video now has me worshipping it.

The same thing happened with Kylie's Things We Do For Love.

The power of visuals is real.

Exactly this. Can't stop repeating the music video.

This is exactly the type of chill yet dancey vibe I like, and he served :clap3:

One of your Girls, Got me Started, Honey are the highlights so far

I've been listening to this album all day, it's so addictive i love it :hippo:

Does anyone knows who's the guy with Troye on the cover? That body is amazing.

I really have been enjoying this album. Rush was a great lead single that interested me enough to check the album out.

Also love that he is not pandering to gays with cliches and just being effortlessly himself.

I found this vinyl on a random store with the Rush cover and I instantly bought it. Now I just wanted to snatch a copy of the pink one :jonny5:
