the last half of the album from can’t go back baby made much more of an impression on me than the first half. it’s my least instant album from him however i know in a couple of listens i’ll be obsessed :heart2:

I'm obsessed. Probably my Album of the Year already.

Somehow every new Troye album is his best

I liked the album overall, I'll probably skip 2-3 songs but the rest goes from good to excellent.

He's honestly such a fun artist to follow, he keeps growing and getting better, it's truly been a joy to experience his musical journey. It's too soon to rank the album amongst his other projects but I liked every song on this. Will post favourites after a couple more listens :jamming:

first listen and i like it a lot but it kinda gives chill background music for the most part, we'll see what sticks on additional plays :bird:

It’s all very… neither here nor there. That’s why I’m having trouble connecting.

Bloom was a masterpiece but this is such a good and solid follow-up. My only criticism is that the album is too short (barely 30min, that basically an EP :rip:). Certain songs could've done with a bridge too. Can't Go Back Baby is definitely my favorite new track.

The girls that don’t get this album REALLY don’t get it. Troye tapped into something the gays should all resonate with… but you know… not everyone does.

!!!! this has honestly been the best part of following him, he gets more confident, experimental and polished with each effort :jonny2: to see so many people praising him is exciting and i hope it’s affirming to him he’s moving in the right direction.

I’m rarely one to care about this but I really feel like a lot of the songs feel so… childlike? Teenager core?  He’s 28.  He should be making more songs like Rush that are for adult gay men not infants.

that being said there was enough good in the album to save it from being a disaster.  It gets a passing grade but barely…. Silly and honey are good.  Time is cute.  But still got it is one of the worst songs of the year.

I was just having this discussion with my friend, that as a queer people this is exactly what Ive always wanted.

Queer music doesnt always have to be dance and club stuff and also doesnt always have to be about fashion or being fierce etc.

Thanks Troye

A perfect queer pop star has emerged.

I went to my first Troye concert in 2016, and I'm so impressed by his personal and musical growth. This is really his time!

I mean, dealing with people's delayed emotional maturity and reliving experiences for your childhood self are kind of quintessential gay experience lol

Maybe in your early 20s, like bloom era.  But he’s pushing 30, I just need something different at this point.   And I think the sorta midtempo sad boy diary entry type song is pretty overdone at this point. It’s well produced but I just wish he went down a different direction. I’m not saying I oppose variety but it’s just too childish for me as a 31 year old..

You put into words what I was struggling to say. I thought the album would've been more mature sound a la Rush. Even a track like Got Me Started is cute. But give us something else.
