Eminem slaying. :clap3:

50 Cent’s peak was so huge. He was truly the supreme between 2003-2007. :jonnycat:

I also had no idea Jay-Z was consistent on the BB200. A damn legend.

I also surprise by this. I thought he was just a meme weed rapper who has some hits as feature artist.

Biggie :clap3:

the way he debuted with +400k in his debut

didn't even need controversy to sell, unlike his rival

Drake's first 3 albums (Thank Me Later, Take Care & Nothing Was the Same) all leaked WEEKS before they were set to drop because physical versions of the albums were made to be released on the same day they dropped on iTunes.

Jay-Z was doing 500k+ first week still as recently as 2013 despite debuting in 1996 but his albums never serve longevity chart-wise.

Tupac, at least, released three hyper-acclaimed albums that are still remembered, referenced and influential today.

Biggie?

All of this…

Yet Pac was the bigger artist, celebrity and overall pop culture figure and still is even in death. The “years of name building and unreleased material” wouldn’t have a difference if he already wasn’t that boy.

Unfortunately, Biggie didn’t get to experience his biggest album because, well…

Not you mentioning jealousy when Diddy was crafting Biggie to compete with Pac and the West Coast dominance.

All of this…

Yet Pac was the bigger artist, celebrity and overall pop culture figure and still is even in death. The “years of name building and unreleased material” wouldn’t have a difference if he already wasn’t that boy.

 Was he the bigger artist?
Biggie was already coming out with big ass CLASSICS

Also, who expected Big to be a bigger celebrity/pop figure, he himself knew he was fat and ugly :ahh:

while Pac was going around acting like a pretty boy, promoting himself in movies and whatelse

He didn't became the Cult figure that he was, until he started dissing the East Coast and in turn, his death - which lead him to be more remembered as what he was

WHAT dominance did PAC have for Diddy to be crafting That for Biggie?! :bibliahh: u funny

If was making Big compete with anyone, it was maybe Snoop and Dre

Ain't no one aiming to be competing with a rapper who couldn't get a GOLD certification for their album and didn't even Enter the Top 10 with his singles :toofunny3:

Super long and complete list, thanks!

Although I wouldn't personally consider Limp Bizkit as Hip-Hop, I see them more as a nu metal band with hip-hop influences.

Eminem is such a legend.

I wasn’t allowed to listen to non-gospel music from birth until around 2008 or 9; so while I -was- witnessing Wayne’s cultural prominence at the time, his peak is understandable to me; What I don’t comprehend is 50’s. I was younger and couldn’t listen to secular music but HOW was he so consumed :deadbanana: it’s impressive

Actually, all of this is hella impressive. Hip hop seems to be THEE strongest genre after pop & rock.

50 Cent was so big that even the G-Unit group albums and solo albums by G-Unit artists Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo were scoring massive debuts and going Platinum just off their proximity to 50 Cent. His peak and reign was otherworldly.
