This is so sad to see. Ignoring the gun epidemic and instead coming after an independent company for selling rainbow clothing. Sounds a lot like Russia's Anti LGBT "propaganda" laws.

Not storewide - they were still available online but my understanding is that just in the stores that received threats they only moved the pride merch booths to the back of the stores. The irony is Walmart still sells pride goods (including in some stores during Pride Month) and haven't gotten nearly any backlash, but I don't think it's been nearly as prominent.

Why are they automatically bigots for blocking pride merch that are targeted to children? LGB is a sexual orientation group. Who here actually agrees that it's OK to sell merchandise like this to children? This should only be marketed to adults.

However sexual orientation =/= everything is rooted in sex. I knew I was gay since I was in kindergarten and never developed feelings for the opposite sex, so very very veeeery weird take to make it directly about sex for children.

 

Besides that... the parents can just not buy it? Lol why ban it ? Makes ZERO sense.

i do!  It's called acceptance.  How many 1000's of kids have gay parents?  Are they not supposed to support them?  Pride merch doesn't make children gay.  That's not how it works.

Because there are gay children?  Not to sound rude but most gay people you have ever heard of in your life knew they weren’t straight as a child.  It had absolutely nothing to do with having sex, I didn’t even know what sex was until I was a teenager, but I knew I was not straight.  Why is this so difficult for people to understand? We spend hundreds of hours understanding chemistry but we can’t take 10 minutes to learn about this?

I haven't even mentioned the TQ part, which is a hot button topic especially when you have gender affirming care targeting children.

These are valid points. I am just going say stuff that I hear from parents - Pride is not completely wholesome. You've got pride parades where you can see adult men and women flashing their genitalia. And then you've got gender affirming drugs being promoted to children, with some states advocating for no parental consent requirement to obtain  these. It's a mess, and it's not helping the LGB community and its fight, tbh.

I’m honestly expecting more and more corporations to either cut down on pride support or skipping it altogether because it’s caused so many legal and financial issues for them. A big headache.
