People use Spotify/AM because they like to listen to music while they are doing other stuff (working, exercising, driving or simply lying on bed while chatting/using social media), which is something that YouTube doesn't offer unless you subscribe to premium. I just think it's pointless but good for those who will use it I guess. Edited July 4, 2023 by thatsmydemi 1 1

SpaceOddity Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 It does feel unintuitive to switch to youtube just for a music video so an option where you can click to watch a song's music video while on spotify could definitely pull in.
Kyle-x Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 (edited) It's a nice idea but people don't spend significant time using the Spotify app beyond switching playlists/songs/etc. Now if artists started premiering their videos on TikTok then we might see music videos start becoming actual events again. I was actually just thinking this last night when someone uploaded Avril's I'm with You video and it came up on my fyp and it had like 60k likes in a few hours. If that was a brand new music video with an algorithmic push it could be a smash. But I don't think Billboard would incorporate those views into their charts so it's unlikely to be something labels would rush to do. A video would reach more eyes in a short period of time but repeat viewing over long periods of time wouldn't really be a thing because that's not the nature of the app. But the exposure might lead people to stream it on Spotify or seek it out on YouTube if it was a really good video. Anything that encourages this art form to stay alive in the 2020’s and beyond is good by me.
perfectillusion204 Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 (edited) I think it's a cool idea. Sure, like 75% of users won't use the feature, but for the 25% that do, it will be awesome. I'm sure they'd put some spin on it too like exclusive only on Spotify for the first 24 hours. That could increase a song's streams a lot depending on the artist. Plus people are genuinely too lazy to leave the app they're on to go YouTube to watch a video, so if it was all in Spotify, I do think video streams would be higher than YouTube streams. Alldeezy Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 I HOPE SO! it was only reason why I used Apple Music back in the days since most MV ain't on youtube Here to watch Allday Music Videos all day everyday
Taylor fanboy Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 These are not needed but if that means I can listen to the audio of Circus music video version, then I’m onboard.

Alex Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 honestly I feel like this would somewhat revive interest in music videos if you weren't bombarded with ads every time you want to watch one (like on Youtube) having music video premieres on spotify / apple music would be interesting to see
professor2000 Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 I guess so. They tried vertical videos (pseudo videos) and that flopped horribly. So we shall see.
Flocon Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 Try to make everything available worldwide before MV please.
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 When Spotify testing the water by releasing Renaissance visuals Tidal, you will never be famous!

I just think it's pointless but good for those who will use it I guess. You'll still have all that functionality + the ability to see the video. Spotify already offers synchronized lyrics which requires you to actually look at the screen. Plus it will help them compete with other streaming services better, all of them already offer music videos. Apple Music even funds music videos to push their platform. That could be great for artists if it gains popularity. There's literally no downside to this
WiredBrain Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 I only want to browse my artists A-Z. Can't they just bring back that feature?
