Bingo, longevity is better than front-loaded sales; however, sometimes it isn't as black or white. Some labels demand the accolades or an artist will get dropped but irrespective artistic integrity should be maintained to some level.
MingYouToo Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 Even as a Taylor fan its disrespectful to compare that iconic album to an album that has ME! in it-

4Real Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 Lover doesn't have the timeless classic and will never have the impact of COO. It's longevity is crazy tho

Does anyone know where it'll end up in her discography? Success-wise, I mean. I don’t have any numbers, but I have to imagine it’ll be above Speak Now, reputation, and evermore at a minimum. Debut was huge back in the day but has nowhere near the staying power, so I’d think it could overtake that, and I’d assume it’ll stay above folklore since it’s way more accessible. It’ll always be below Fearless, Red, 1989, and I’m assuming eventually Midnights. So solidly middle of the pack for herC which is really impressive since it was looking like her lowest album for a while 1
GentleEarthquake Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 Come On Over is like one of the biggest if not the biggest mpg era ever. Lover is... Lover
Superbitch Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 (edited) This happened with dido too if I’m correct. No angel came out in 1999 and really really took off after she was featured/sampled in the song that birthed the term stan lol… stan by Eminem in 2001z 1999 video 2001 video version after the album took off Edited June 27, 2023 by Superbitch
wsurferwayne Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 Come on over have 4 massive global hits!!! Lover only had 1 massive global hit (CS), and a moderate hit (lover)!!! Me!ss and yntcd are frontloaded and the man just didn't do well!!! If taylor want more singles from lover, she can release daylight, paper rings and maathp!!!!

blown away Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 Come On Over sweetie... Longevity-wise they are comparable, but quality wise COO shits multiple times on Lover.

Inhwan Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 No but it is interesting that it's becoming one of her biggest album now as i thought it was her career low in 2019.
allforyou Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 Not really They're different genres, Come On Over is way better and COO had way more promotion
