Exactly, there's no denying she was huge for those 3 years. But until someone gives me a list showing me that Britney was the biggest album seller or touring act or single seller during any given time of her career, those 3 years will just sound like nostalgia effect to me.

Gurl, stop embarrassed yourself and telling lies. After ITZ she had a mediocre success with Blackout then have a huge come back with Circus era and last until Femme Fatale era with bunch of hits after hits that's top BB100. Then, she come back again and making new trend with the Vegas Residency shows. :bird:

Britney was massive, there were labels who literally wanted their own Britney (ex: Mandy, Jessica, Xtina, Willa, etc.)

You really had to be there. Anyone saying Taylor is way too young, or just a hater.

At some point y'all got to understand how irrelevant Twitter is. So she has 60,000 haters on that app?

Do you know Taylor Swift has 15 millions users listen to her music on Spotify alone every day?

Hopefully around the same point you realise Heinz selling a million bottles of mayonnaise a day does not free them from criticism.

What huge comeback? Circus was a mediocre success at best.

Taylor.

Shocker :skull:

Obviously Britney. Also MJ is bigger than Taylor so y’all can stop with that delusion too. Stop erasing the past, I think some of you don’t know much about the artists that you are talking about.

Britney was just massive Worldwide from the first single. She didn’t have longevity though so Taylor wins there.

- MJ called her the princess of pop. - Madonna kissed her on live TV (in 2003 but still, MADONNA approved of her)

- Shania wrote a track for her 2nd album (Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know)

- Oops was the fastest selling album ever by a female artist. Only Adele broke this record.

- Every label wanted a Britney / anti Britney.

So... :michael:

Fastest-selling to what? One million in the US?

Does that matter when it's outsold by MANY female albums. And other female albums had one million-selling weeks before that. Or million-selling debut weeks in other countries.

And Midnights surpassed that record too last year in US.

I'm sorry but if anybody is Heinz here, it's Britney Spears :rip:

Britney still holds it for fastest selling album by a teenager and that has her haters bothered while she wasn’t even aware/cared about the 1.3 record

the others didn’t have back to back diamond albums and now I wonder how much oops sold world wide that week. I’m sure you know

the tour was her biggest one. She opened with 500k albums debut week and got her first number one in 10 years. Her career was dead. thanks to circus she got FF and Vegas

Huh? Shania has consecutive Diamond albums, Whitney has consecutive Diamond albums, Mariah is about to have 3 consecutive Diamond when MC is re-certified.

Whitney had a million-selling week in the US before her, Mariah opened with over a million in Japan in 1998, etc.

You see how it's an irrelevant "record?"

And when I say top 20 I am being generous and including "Various Artists" albums.

Those aren’t Britney’s peers. Britney was the only solo female doing it in 99-01 stop being purposely obtuse.

Britney and Eminem were the top artists by 2010 and that’s not even counting their massive 90s sales

i know it’s an irrelevant record, Britney herself couldn’t care less about it. Say that to all of you who lose sleep at night because of it

This website has obviously gained too many member born after the year 2000. The answer is far and wide Britney.

Overall career it's a different story obviously, Taylor wins by far there.

If Taylor ever released an album as "successful" as Circus at any point during her 16 years career it would rightfully be considered a huge underperformance.

That’s a weird comparison.

Taylor is having the kind of control over her career that Britney never had.

In my opinion I think Taylor is bigger but she is slaying in ways that no one else is. When Britney was huge the backstreet boys and the spice girls where just as big

Taylor has sold more albums, singles, is bigger in streaming and also touring. Britney is an icon in her own right but Taylor owns everything

Britney was 10 years into hers in a wildly different sales climate after exploited personal struggles not seen before (maybe only by MJ). Her career was non existent and she extended another 10 years with it (2008-2018)

So what you’re saying is Britney had huge competition and taylor has none right now

10 years into her career, Taylor was finishing the 1989 era the biggest album of 2014. 13 years into her career she released the biggest album of 2019 (Lover) which had incredible longevity in the BB200. 16 years into her career she had her career best and first 1 million + album debut in the US since her own Reputation making it her 5th overall.

Her and Britney are clearly not the same.

Taylor dwarfs her competition (male and female), while Britney was always outdone by bigger artists like Eminem.

Incorrect! Nobody is able compete with Taylor currently, that is not the same thing :priceless:

Britney objectively. I still remember it. I was too young and not into music at all at the time, but still remember the phenomenon she was at the time. Taylor never got close to that.
