Without the help of free streaming, a million releases, re recordings, the current vinyl trend, huge competition, and so on. This, taylor is loved today while Britney was scrutinized for every single thing. This weird obsession still is around today present on this very board where only Britney gets penalized for things others do as well Vinyl trend? As opposed to the physical trend in 1999? Also, it's much harder to accumulate copies today than it was back in 1998-2004. And Taylor is doing at a much faster pace than Britney ever has

Yup like piracy being an at an all time high. Everyone declined yet only she gets picked on for it as opposed to when she was the only female (solo or group) to sell over 1M debut week, then suddenly it’s “buT evErYoNe hAd 1M oPenErs!!1” 3 minutes ago, Badgalbriel said: Vinyl trend? I’m not sure how true that if Britney had back to back diamond albums. but I would sure hope she’s moving a lot of units considering her constant releases since 2020 and re recordings Edited June 25, 2023 by dirrtydiana

Badgalbriel Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 I love how the Britney revisionists live in a constant state of delusion where they think whatever Britney did in 1998 or 1999 was actually out of this world. She was doing the same thing the other mega successful acts of her time were doing. Backstreet Boys, Garth Brooks, Celine, Shania, Alanis... Britney was not pulling bigger number than these acts. She has a huge and an amazing career but she didn't have this world-domination effect you all pretend she had. 2 1

She was a huge celebrity name, but she wasn't doing anything that hadn't been done by Madonna, MJ, Aaliyah, Janet, Kelis.

XAMJ Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 People saying Britney are holding on to the past. Taylor is unmatched, especially since she is this big in 2023.

But until someone gives me a list showing me that Britney was the biggest album seller or touring act or single seller during any given time of her career, those 3 years will just sound like nostalgia effect to me.

No one got close to the greats but Eminem and Britney were the fastest selling and closer to them. and certainly taylor will never touch them so it’s redundant good for her, she and her label work extremely hard but even with her million releases she won’t touch Adele’s 25 1 minute ago, Badgalbriel said: Still, it's much harder to accumulate copies in the streaming era, which is why we don't have artists opening with the huge numbers that artists in the 90s and 00s used to pull. I’m not diminishing the fact she has like five 1M openers. I’m only pointing out the fact that today people can click a button on their phone and get the album freely delivered the same day at their doorstep for half the price. 1

mylicious Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 Obviously BRITNEY, she was a worldwide phenomenon, Taylor is huge too but in a different way, it’s not comparable.
