Britney was extremely local & had to share the spotlight with her peers.

Taylor is on another level & league of her own.

This is the definition of a set up.

Britney Gets A 'Walk Of Fame' Star - CBS News

You really think a WOF star that YOU HAVE TO BUY proves your point?

Like Madonna, Angelina Jolie, Beyonce, Taylor have all refused to get a star because its a worthless waste of money.

You only do that when you are desperate and need some positive press.

Xtina wasn't local at her peak either but that's a different debate.

Not to the same degree, no. Taylor is hugely popular, yes, but Britney was a phenomenon.

It’s hilarious they can’t go one thread without mentioning Xtina. The obsession should be studied.

ah yes, Audrey Hepburn, the starlet who was in desperate need of positive fame and attention

or meryl streep, the talentless B-lister who BOUGHT her star because she needed some self-validation

can y'all get a grip fr

I came to say this! I didn’t live Britney’s peak but I feel like even in 2008 / 2009 she felt more inescapable than Taylor is rn, not because she was successful like Taylor is rn but because it was a different era. Same can be said for Beyoncé, Gaga, Katy, Rihanna, Adele… even Taylor in the 1989 era actually.

Then imagine 1999/2000 was 2008 x 3

Britney mania everywhere.

Britney for sure. Props to Taylor for doing it in this stage of her career tho

The pot calling the kettle black

You are in every Britney thread hating on her :toofunny3:

ot: Different times so I guess it's hard to tell? :coffee:

but I agree that Britney was inescapable. She was a blueprint for a lot of the starlets (WW too) back then, cartoon characters (go see the recent thread) and etc

constantly getting mentioned in songs too

Why is it always about vibes and feelings from Britney stans and never objective reality? :rip:

I’m not a Britney stan and I’m not saying Britney has an overall bigger career than Taylor.

I’m just saying this fever / Taylor mania y’all are talking about is not as big as Britney’s peak, at least not globally

I genuinely don't understand the obsession with Xtina either, it's insane how she's supposedly the biggest flop the world has ever known yet they bring her up ALL THE TIME without any reason.  I'm not even a fan and i don't understand why she's THAT hated, it's beyond weird :rip:

I can KIND OF understand why people hate popular artists they don't like (jealousy,...) but someone who's not a threat or not a massive success? I just don't get it :rip:

I don't know.. I think Brit's first 2 albums are still bigger than 1989 and Midnights. But Taylor is charting 10 albums every week.. so maybe her?

Posted

Taylor, easily. She is the moment. And she's here to stay.

Posted

Taylor in 2022-23 is beloved and respected as an artist while Britney has never had that at any point of her career so Taylor of course!! :gaycat5:

As a whole package, NO:giraffe:

She is tho? You're using the generic parameters of what a popstar is to judge her popularity but Taylor always marketed herself as a singer/songwriter and has exceled at it more than any of her peers

Asking this on a website dominated by Swifties is a choice.

Edit: My bad, didn't see you're a Xtina/Taylor stan before, it makes sense actually :dies:
