The OBTUSE broken record mentality.

List of Diamond (and above) albums in 1998-2000

- *NSYNC by *NSYNC

- The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill by Lauryn Hill

- Greatest Hits by 2Pac

- Devil Without a Cause by Kid Rock

- Wide Open Spaces by The Chicks

- Double Life by Garth Brooks (21x Platinum)

- Fly by The Chicks

- Human Clay by Creed

- Millennium by Backstreet Boys

- …Baby One More Time by Britney

- Supernatural by Santana

- Country Grammar by Nelly

- Oops!… I Did It Again by Britney

- 1 by The Beatles

- No Strings Attached by *NSYNC

- The Marshall Mathers LP by Eminem

- Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park

Now, let’s look when Taylor’s Fearless and Adele’s 21 came out

2008: Only Fearless by Taylor Swift

2009: No album went Diamond

2010: No album went Diamond

2011: Only 21 by Adele

2012: No album went Diamond

2013: No album went Diamond

2014: No album went Diamond

Pop Quiz: Tell the class when was it easier to scan Diamond? :isudumblmao:

Britney’s only ‘impressive’ digital sales record is literally only the first week of Hold It Against Me, which was broken several times after - including by Taylor, and then Femme Fatale bombed.

Yet Britney is the only pop girl and a teenager in that list full of males, groups and huge stablished acts like TB

Ugh her competition was insaneeee :jonny6: yet she’s on there twice her power

The grandmas bragging about 10 dollar albums when Taylor is selling $250 tickets across the globe, grossing more than Britney’s entire career combined with one tour :deadbanana4:

Oops was selling for $20 ($36 adjusted today). If anything, it was cheaper to go diamond in 2008 when digital albums were $9.99

Albums is where the money was back then. If it had been on touring then everyone’s numbers would’ve been massive, stop undermining their power.

With 18 trucks of equipment… the reigning princess of pop gave all of her screaming young fans what was by far 2001's largest arena tour.

in 2001 the average ticket price as $40-60 :deadbanana2:

The fact that they have an account here on a music forum here thanks to Britney and have to ask that question is trolling 🤦‍♀️

but I guess “karma is a cat purring on my lap” and a guitar trumps ushering in sounds to the mainstream twice in Britney’s career

Taylor but Britney's debut was absolutely mammoth... the only girl to come close to that kind of "debut hype" was Gaga.

I don't doubt Britney would be having comparable box scores for her dates if she bothered to embark on a tour nowadays tbh! And NO, sadly I think that Taylor doing her spam release thing back in the late 90's would not have mattered much because people used to have a higher quality standard for music back then.

Because you ACTUALLY think Britney's teen poppy garbage/ autotuned eurotrash is "higher quality" than Taylor's discography???? :bibliahh::bibliahh:

This is just too funny, i'm CACKLING :bibliahh::bibliahh:

Come close? Ganga’s debut was insane, everyone was talking about her and her music only. Grammys, critical acclaim, stats everything were there.

So now we’re gonna use a “cassette boom” to discredit her?

if anything cassettes harmed their sales as piracy was huge at the time compared to now which is pretty much nonexistent thanks to streaming

edit: Steve Johnson aka a charts stan, weve been knew

Sure. I think you could make an argument it was bigger than Britney’s too.

Gaga’s imprint on pop culture still stands up today… so does Britney’s.

We can say that illegal down loads on google can harm the paied streaming now. I think for Brit, you need too many conditions. Females only, teens, not even a couple of years ago(because Celine sold more), excluding tours..

yes, I didn’t say piracy was gone, but it’s nonexistent now compared to the

also, for baby one more time Of the album’s 10.6 million copies sold to date, 1.49 million are on cassette.

Most of you are too young to have been there in real time. I remember Britney was HUGE. I would even say she was bigger than Taylor is now when she debuted.

I was also her generation so i feel her impact was bigger but again it can be subjective as people just can stick to what you consumed when young.

No hunny. I’ve been listening to Taylor’s music before I knew anything about charts. Bad guess again.

I’m sorry but most of taylors stuff I’ve heard (maybe minus folklore) sounds like an angsty teen level of quality. I don’t know if it’s her voice that cheapens the quality or her campiness/corniness but her stuff sounds like it has some sort of electronic filter or maybe i am old now and that’s what’s in thanks to tiktok

anyway, all that to say a lot of Britney’s stuff (minus bj that’s not her(s)), has immaculate quality that has aged objectively divinely. No shade to taylor specifically because not everyone has that

That europop trash you call a "discography" is not objectively quality in any way. But you are free to have zero taste i guess.

She can't sing, can't dance anymore, doesn't write, doesn't produce, plays 0 instruments (no, the piano playing for Everytime doesn't count as even a 10 year old could play that), doesn't compose... What is her musical talent?

Britney's discography can be divided into 3 categories: The teen pop/label control years that have aged terribly (BOMT, Oops!, Britney), the quality years (ITZ, Blackout), and the generic throwaway **** (Circus, Femme Fatale, Britney Jean, Glory)

And I know you're not talking about vocal quality/filters as a defender of arguably the least vocally talented pop star currently signed to a record label :rip:

Exactly. Britney has NOTHING, she's the most mediocre joke of a pop star the world has ever seen. Her chipmunk "voice" is the most awful sound i've ever heard coming from a recording artist :mazen:

As if Britney's stuff pre-Femme Fatale wasn't as autotuned and overproduced, please :rip:
