Last year, the state recorded at least 279 heat-related deaths, its worst count since 1999.

So when you are in your mom's stomach you are sacred, but after that?...

It won't stop here. They want to eradicate worker's rights in the US and apparently it doesn't matter if it will lead to more deaths.

Clearly if workers wanted rights, they should have chosen to be a wealthy multi-billion dollar corporation rather than a human struggling to keep up with the cost of living.

are we just a third world country at this point?

When they kill off all of their workers, then what?

A triple-digit Texas heat wave is drawing new attention to a law signed by Gov. Greg Abbott this week, ending water break requirements for construction workers. The legislation, signed Tuesday, overrides cities’ municipal labor rules, including those that mandate water breaks for outdoor workers. Austin and Dallas both have ordinances requiring employers to give construction workers a 10-minute water break every four hours, the Texas Tribune reported.

Not them thinking a 10 minute break is too much after 4 hours of physical labor in the scorching sun :rip:

As someone that’s worked in physical labor in the heat for years, this is sad and disgraceful.

Nobody loves living in the 18th Century like todays Republicans

And the opposing political party seems to have no backbone. Like this would easily be something to shame the Republicans over and win public opinion, no way a majority of Americans would support this. But then the Dems...

This is ******* crazy. There's no justification for this whatsoever. They're basically saying go die at this point.

And we all know what race the majority of those construction workers are.

This is practically genocide…

Sis, I have worked construction jobs and I can promise you: people will still drink water and take breaks. This law is stupid, but some of y’all have never done physical labor and it shows

I know construction workers will still drink water, however it’s just shocking that they don’t see people as people, only as an expendable resource. And they’re not even hiding it anymore with this law.

That I don’t disagree with.

But knowing how union contractors work, many will (rightfully) straight up ignore this

The fact human lives are put at risk every single day just to make the 5 men that rule this planet more rich is so inexplicably disgusting

I wouldn’t be surprised if lots of those construction workers voted for his re-election  :clown:

Abbott figured that since he let a bunch of people die during the winter storm a couple of years ago, he might as well even the playing field and let some people die from the heat.
