Does Ryan Murphy's inconsistency annoy you?

Throughout his career, Ryan Murphy has created multiple television shows that have performed well, only for them to take major hiatuses that bring down the hype. For instance:

Feud - Released in 2017 to good reviews, second season ordered, S2 production did not start until 2022 and is not set to be released until 2024.

American Crime Story - Released in 2018 to good reviews, second season ordered, S2 did not premiere until over 2 years after, third season ordered, S3 did not premiere until almost 4 years later.

The Politician - Released in 2019 following 2 season order, renewed for third season in 2020, no updates have been provided since 2020 on S3.

Ratched - Released in 2020 following 2 season order, received good reviews & great viewership, no updates have been provided since 2020 on S2.

Monster - Released in 2022 to great viewership & accolades, second season order, S2 not expected to premiere until 2024 at the earliest.

It seems like every one of his television projects since the success of AHS has had a minimum wait of 2.5 years before the new season is released. And, in every case the viewership has dropped significantly by time the follow-up season premieres. Do the constant breaks in time kill the hype for you?

What do you mean inconsistency? He's been constantly putting out awful tv shows out there :celestial5:

His hits are few and far between compared to his misses.

He always starts out good and then everything goes to **** after a couple seasons if not mid 1st season.

Yes, he is very hit or miss.

im kinda gagged at no update at Ratched? That was a huge hit and I’m surprised we don’t have season 2 yet by now

The Ryan Murphy curse started when he let Popular get cancelled on a cliffhanger

He peaked with AHS Asylum I fear and it’s been a horrid slide down since

Ryan Murphy is capable of like two good seasons before something possesses him to write terrible television. So he’s inconsistent, yes. Just not in the way you’re suggesting.

Some of his shows start with a good first episode then it starts going downhill with a lot of plot holes and incoherence.

I can’t say this keeps me awake at night but okaaay??

AHS first few episodes of season 1, Feud season 1, Glee first half of season 1, AHS Asylum, AHS Coven until halfway through the last episode, and the first half of Scream Queens season 1 are the only quality things he has ever put out (and that is terrible considering the amount of content he has put out in his career) so yes, I would say he is inconsistent in terms of the quality of his work (or lack thereof) versus his reputation in Hollywood and monetary success, and yes it legitimately annoys me

You talk as he writes everything.

Now he's like shonda or Steven spielberg, more an executive producer than a screenwriter.

How many good things Spielberg produces and how many terribile things?.

Yes it will or the opposite expectations will be too high that you bomb.

I thought this was gna be about the inconsistent quality of his shows & how they usually tank after a season or two. Not the fact that he takes long to make more 💀

His shows are hit or miss. I liked Glee (early seasons), AHS is hit or miss, I liked Dahmer/Monster, I liked Ratched which I don't know what is going on with that..

The longer the shows go on though, they do end up sucking and pretty quickly too. Season 1 of Scream Queens was so good and Season 2 I couldn't even finish.

Do you think it takes a week to write a full script for a tv show with 8-12 episodes ? Pls. Everything he releases is great let him take his time.

He's consistently bad.

Most of these are anthology series though :skull: I'm still mad about ACS Katrina getting canceled.

He peaked with Nip/Tuck (for me) and even that was quite inconsistent (and there wasn't that big wait you mentioned between seasons)

Pose was amazing the whole way through

Glee was iconic even when it got bad

American Horror Story first 3 seasons are unmatched, but fourth and fifth were decent as well. the rest I can VERY much do without

so yes, his inconsistency does indeed annoy me
