Cause in terms of the game it really is just up to you, we’ve had a lot of entries that don’t have choruses and many #1s written in that way. They’re judged the same and it just depends on if you are interested in writing that way or not. Personally I’d say maybe half (if not more) of the songs I write don’t follow a typical structure with choruses, but that does seem to be increasing the longer that I’ve written. When I started I never would have, but now it is more frequent than not. 1

Okay… So, this is the first song that I haven’t had the opportunity to see before you submitted it thanks to the mentoring. And, I completely understand why you wouldn’t have sent this prior for any mentoring… because… well, it’s such a piece of artistry and perfect absurdity, that you didn’t need me to tell you that! This is such a self assured 10, that you didn’t even need to ask and already know it. This is genius! No, but seriously. This is the most entertaining song that I have read in a long time! Every new section, which introduced another housewife avenger into this absurd hilarious song, was just perfection. Picturing it in all these people’s voices, their mannerisms, it’s just iconic. I’ve never even seen an episode of housewives and it’s still iconic (I am however in my heavily fascinated by housewives era… it feels like I’m about to enter my housewives viewing era and this song might just be the thing to push me over). Really this song had everything that I could’ve asked for this round, it was hilarious and has so much personality and it’s insanely creative and absurd in just the perfect way. And that plot twist that it turns out the man they are singing about is Simon… I SCREAMED (but where is Alex omg!! I need a sequel song by her in response NOW!). A huge departure from your songs so far but another great entry nonetheless, such pure fun and I hope it ranks as high as possible this round! I want to see myself making that lemon curd token. @XO_Life - Blocked I really appreciate that even though you had writer's block, you still pushed through and tried to submit something this round regardless. It was definitely a more unconventional round but I think you made it work! Deciding to write about the actual writers block you were experiencing makes for a clever spin on the challenge, and I like the approach of essentially saying like ~ I have all these things that I should be saying, but I can’t because if I have writer's block ~ and the way you used this to your advantage with the song was a good way of going about this. It still has its message and gets the point across despite the writer’s block and the struggle to articulate these thoughts as you normally might, and so I think it makes for a fitting and interesting submission. @Hug - TMI I really like that you took this in a way that it feels like it fits in with your other entries from this season. It’s absurd, but it feels like it still fits in with the theme and inspiration you’ve been going with so far (is your EP this season all anime / visual novel inspired material? :eddie:). I wasn’t familiar with isekai myself but even just from this song you explain the concept really well and the narrative is very easy to follow and get right off the bat. It’s entertaining and fits the absurdity, but I also appreciate the fun sarcasm and slight nods at commentary that it has (with the satirical critical mentions of religion, gun control and monarchy). It makes for a fun and light hearted song, but it still has an intelligence and messages to it when you take it deeper. Another creative and inspired entry, very good! @worldwide angel - Blue Flame I love that you took the theme for this round and matched it to your writing style, as opposed to changing your writing style to try and fit this theme (if that makes sense). I hadn’t even considered it, but this round works perfectly with your fanciful and dreamlike take on writing, and you executed the challenge fantastically taking advantage of this. This is a greatly vivid song and I love the places that it takes you as you read through, almost like a little adventure. It’s colourful and bright but also imbued with a great meaning and I think you matched that well with your writing, without making the message too obvious or overbearing. It feels like it worked in tandem with the whimsical lyricism and you balanced the direct message and the vivid, absurd component of the song really well without either side feeling needing more. Lmao there was just something about this that really spoke to me! I really enjoy the mix of the absurd imagery and the narrative with Madonna and Billy Joel, but what I LOVE most is that at its core it still feels like a really sentimental and touching song. Maybe the melody and the backing track helped a bit with achieving this feeling too, but I was definitely pulled in regardless and I just loved it. It might be wild to say but it kinda pulled on my heartstrings a bit! Like it’s still a lighthearted and fun song regardless but I do feel like it has a lot of heart to it too, and it warmed mine not despite but along with the absurdity of it. I’m just realising this now as I write it too, but it kinda feels reminiscent of Kesha’s Shots On The Hood of My Car to me in a way, an end of the world song with a playful theme but still a great sentimental feeling to it. I really loved it! @OreGuy - Monster Okay this gives me like A24 social commentary horror movie vibes in a very nice way! Like maybe this is absurd to say but “you pulled his gut, his eyes, his heart on the ground, I play it cool but I’m a fool if I don’t take the chance, swim with his parts and float like I’m in paradise” is actually kinda really beautiful imagery that could make for a vivid ending sequence or something. It was very interesting to picture and despite its obviously dark tones, the social dynamic in the narrative here is very intriguing and I like how that was the main focus of the song rather than just romanticising the situation, but showing the absurdity of it instead. A very interesting and unique read, so I like you did a really great job with this challenge. Honestly, it might even be more favourite song from you this season! Very alluring and masochistic feeling, I really enjoyed it! @PoKiTaurus - Hey Simon This is definitely the most personal entry of the round, but despite the song not being rooted in fantasy or dealing with peculiar circumstances I like that you still managed to take this personal narrative and still apply some absurd inspiration to it with the character of Simon pretty much accompanying you in these dark moments. It’s interesting to read from a conceptual point, getting to see these moments depicted from differing viewpoints and personalities. And really, seeing into a mindset like this from a personal perspective is an interesting commentary on this idea of “absurdity” and the theme of the round overall. Is this an absurd person, or where they just subject to absurd situations? It makes for an intriguing read and raises good questions for me like this, which I don’t know if you specifically intended, but has a good effect either way. Another great submission, thank you! I really enjoy the mix of the absurd imagery and the narrative with Madonna and Billy Joel, but what I LOVE most is that at its core it still feels like a really sentimental and touching song. Maybe the melody and the backing track helped a bit with achieving this feeling too, but I was definitely pulled in regardless and I just loved it. Hiccup is an obsessed Alison stan so I don't talk to him anymore. Ratchet is boring these days so I didn't call him. Michelle and Avril left me on read. Sarah McLachlan already blocked me so that's not happening. I'm too shy to ask Clive so Simon is harassing him on Discord for me. Our manager will be 1997 red head Kylie. I'll get better in a few hours and then write I'm not going to sleep tonight. I actually broke my promise of writing at day time after round 2, it's just easier when the moon is up. Round 3 I was out of juice round 4 I was exploring my past now I will write something not about me because you can't spell team without ME. I'm so happy I got fired in June, I need to find another work from home job they are amazing. I love you. 1

Like maybe this is absurd to say but “you pulled his gut, his eyes, his heart on the ground, I play it cool but I’m a fool if I don’t take the chance, swim with his parts and float like I’m in paradise” is actually kinda really beautiful imagery that could make for a vivid ending sequence or something. It was very interesting to picture and despite its obviously dark tones, the social dynamic in the narrative here is very intriguing and I like how that was the main focus of the song rather than just romanticising the situation, but showing the absurdity of it instead. A very interesting and unique read, so I like you did a really great job with this challenge. Honestly, it might even be more favourite song from you this season! Very alluring and masochistic feeling, I really enjoyed it! @PoKiTaurus - Hey Simon This is definitely the most personal entry of the round, but despite the song not being rooted in fantasy or dealing with peculiar circumstances I like that you still managed to take this personal narrative and still apply some absurd inspiration to it with the character of Simon pretty much accompanying you in these dark moments. It’s interesting to read from a conceptual point, getting to see these moments depicted from differing viewpoints and personalities. And really, seeing into a mindset like this from a personal perspective is an interesting commentary on this idea of “absurdity” and the theme of the round overall. Is this an absurd person, or where they just subject to absurd situations? I am massively interested in RHONY… I’ve seen so many clips and compilations, and what an absurd and hilarious mix of personalities there is . I actually thought about starting watching it with my bf, who has never seen any episodes either, but I had no idea where to start (I know ideally you would start at Season 1 but it was looking crunchy so I wasn’t sure if that was the best place to actually begin or if you can skip it a bit… interested in hearing your thoughts ) but since it’s been rebooted anyway I might just watch the new version as it’s own separate entity as well, especially since I can start from the beginning now while it is fresh. 1
