Wtf I don't! I live in Washington for God sake😄

Sis, are you sure? You used to say you were a European national. Maybe I'm thinking of the good sis @anti-***** (:heart2:) .

I was about to say... wishing for poor people to default on their loans "to get it over with so it doesn't harm Biden" is already sinister enough as an American, but to do so as a European is particularly wild.:deadbanana4:

If I was a European I'd probably be more leftist. But living in a Seattle suburb, I'm more moderate🙂

Oh no, I hope that's not how you think I would think about this, but I guess you were referring to that user, lol. I'm from Finland. But yeah, I think college should be free everywhere. And Joe should wipe all the student debt, and be willing to fight the Supreme Court about it.

And otherwise I've just been reading you guys' posts and trying to learn from them. I feel like as a foreigner my place is just to listen. But maybe I can hope that the US would get European style social security some day, at least in the more liberal states. I read something that there's a record breaking amount of American tourists coming to Europe now in the summer. I think there's gonna be quite many people who will fall in love with the more relaxed lifestyle, especially in Spain and Italy. And France too somewhat. Life should not just be eating, sleeping and working. Especially now with robots and AI coming, if they are made to help us and not replace us, they could help make people work less hours and still earn the same or even more. And corporate productivity and profits will skyrocket, but there has to be a mass movement of people demanding that workers get their fair share of that pie too.

No, not at all, sis! I genuinely couldn't remember associating being from a specific country with you or them. No issues. :heart2:

This is going to be the 2nd biggest self-inflicted disaster of his presidency thus far, eclipsed only by ending the expended child tax credit. :deadbanana4:

The best way to tackle student loans is to pass it through Congress. Make student loans interest free and if anyone pays diligently for 10 years, the rest should be eliminated. Now that Pelosi is out, I do see an avenue opening for such discussions. Even making public and trade colleges tuition free should be important.

MOHELA itself is claiming it is not harmed by the cancellation and doesn't understand why the Missouri AG filed a lawsuit on their behalf. :deadbanana4: If Biden let's this sham lawsuit work and leaves borrowers abandoned. :deadbanana4:

This is such a mess. I hope they have a plan to get this through because if not the Dems are going to bomb in 24.

Really crystallizes the issue that will literally be make-or-break for turnout differences by mere thousands for the Electoral College in the Upper Midwest.

I don't really think the stakes are higher than that. Will be interesting to see what excuses are formally rolled out in the likely event of no legislative push after SCOTUS rules.

"We tried" isn't good enough and framing young black voters as selfish for not turning out clearly hasn't helped either. People are tired of voting the lesser of evils so they vote third party or stay home. I don't support any of it as I already unpacked how I'm against Susan Sarandon's acceleration theory here (which I took to mostly mean literally voting for Trump as a progressive out of nihilism but others tie it to 3rd party votes, etc.) and I don't need to revisit that, but I'm done fighting it.

2024 is all about negative partisanship. If Biden beats Trump, it'll be by a hair in the Electoral College, and he'll have Dobbs to thank for it.

I feel like it’ll be virtually impossible for Biden to win. He already barely won in 2020 and has since completely tanked his reputation.

Considering there are DEMOCRATS who voted to retroactively added interest to debtors, even that doesn’t seem like a viable path. Especially since the Senate will be permanently lost to the Democrats after next year when Joe Manchin’s seat is inevitably flipped and Kyrsten Sinema spoils the seat with her running against Ruben Gallego and Kari Lake as an independent.

This is... not good.

Ending the student debt pause is going to have some of the worse ramifications of Biden's presidency. His admin basically built the attempt to forgive student debt to fail.

Handing off the fate of 40M Americans to a court whose corruption is known is malpractice.
