Miles. Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 (edited) With this season coming to an end, I think it's safe to say that the producers have flopped again. Four of the final five couples are supremely unlikable. Whitney and Lochan will be solid winners, and Ty and Ella deserve to make the final for all the drama they've provided, but the rest should be nowhere near the final. And letting Scott - the biggest male fan fave they've had in years - just linger for weeks without bringing in a new bombshell for him was asinine. They could've brought a new girl for him, they could've brought Catherine back, or they could've brought Gabby (from Casa Amor) back. Next season needs a major shakeup. Apparently there will be a Love Island All Stars this fall. I guess we'll see how that goes... Edited July 26, 2023 by Miles.

Of course all things run their course, LI wasn't going to be a juggernaut forever, but the producers really ****** things up this year. First of all, the public CANNOT handle two seasons a year. LI is a massive time commitment: it's on every damn day for two whole months. It's like the Olympics or the World Cup, but LONGER. And those are only every four years. Two LI seasons in one year was always a bad idea; the first winter season didn't work and neither did the second. And now it's hurting the summer season. Secondly, S9 was BAD. I still cannot fathom why the producers allowed the two fan favorites - Zara and Taynel - to be dumped, while allowing so many unlikable people to make it all the way to the end. It would have been like dumping Maura and Amber early in S8 and allowing Michael to make the finals. It was so unsatisfying, and I think it made a lot of people stop watching. Third, the initial cast for this season was really underwhelming. The public wants "regular people" (not obvious influencers like Molly) but they still have to be charismatic and attractive. We need BOMBSHELLS with big energy like Kem, Chris, Montana, and Olivia (S3), Megan (S4), Amber and Maura (S5), and Ekin-Su and Davide (S8). There's not a single person this year with main character energy so far. No one wants to see Molly crying every episode. Fourth, Millie and Liam really damaged the show when they won S7. By showing that a man can treat a woman horribly and still win, they (and the producers) set a very dark precedent. Now, every season we have multiple couples where the guy mugs the girl off, the girl cries for a couple episodes, the guy apologizes, they get back together and make the final. This isn't fun to watch. Again, imagine if Amber had taken Michael back or if Maura had taken Tom back in S5. It wouldn't have been nearly as satisfying. We need the producers to cast stronger women with actual backbones and at least a couple of nice guys each season. Finally, the formula is predictable. We all know exactly when Casa Amor will start, and how it works. We know that dumpings will happen via the "safe" couples choosing from the "bottom 3." We know when bombshells are coming and how they'll arrive. Even small things are exactly the same each season: like today 2 new bombshells are entering and they pick three guys each to make a starter, main, and dessert. They've done this exact thing for the last 5+ seasons. Switch it up at least a little! Actually surprise the audience every once in a while. The exact same formula only works so long before getting stale. In conclusion, I still love the show, but it's definitely time for some adjustments. I hope the producers can get things back on track asap. Luckily Love Island Australia remains excellent Yeah I agree
Mellark Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Hmmm, I never watched it but as someone who is currently following a Celebrity Big Brother México (LCDLFMX) season right now. I feel if the format of Love Island is getting tired from the public, then there needs to be changes. Not to mention how iconic some of the latter day CBB runs remain even now; eugh please fellow kids, make it smash! I think this is why La Casa de Los Famosos (Celebrity Big Brother) and Big Brother franchise is so successful because of the 24/7 format. BBCAN kinda destroyed its format but doing clips instead of a 24/7 which defeats the purpose. I am using the show as an example because a lot of moments are going viral, especially surrounding Wendy or housemates who bring the kiis to the house. Like you search up the house, there is memes and clips of certain moments they talk about in the house + also public voting. I thought Love Island was 24/7 but it's just a recap.
