I didn’t know it started I’ll be honest

It’s a bit dead and they don’t do a good job at promoting it

Book Gaga for the mid season performance and it’ll save the show :clap3:

I hope the Big Brother UK producers take note of this and don’t cast Love Island wannabes for the upcoming reboot, and only focus on normal, everyday people. People do not want to watch influencers anymore.

I think it’s ran its course. Every year I say I’m not going to watch it but always end up in a room when someone is watching and I end up caving. I’ve been exposed to some of this years show and it honestly looks so dead. The format is so clapped out at this point. They either need to switch things up completely or just pull it from the air.

Dannii Minogue's I Kissed a Boy ended it, I fear.

Yeah this is the problem. It started out funny when they were all really messy and didn't really understand the show format, but it's just become a way of people launching their careers as instagram models now. It felt like the producers had to do less at the start to stir up interesting conversations and drama.

I stopped watching in the 2021 season because the way the men treat the women on this show just became so disgusting + Fay's episode long screaming meltdown in Teddy's face with no producer intervention really turned me off the show in general.

I'm 3 Eps in and it's boring, I kind of quit already

This year especially everyone a little too cool for my liking

I feel like it has unfortunately ran its course. It’s SO boring now. The islanders are too safe and predictable to avoid social media backlash. The islanders are uglier.

Is the American version on yet? They really do a terrible job at advertising this all around

The show peaked at Season 5 (2019) [Michael, Amber, Yewande, Anna etc's season] and it's been downhill since then. It's gotten a lot more predictable and stale and contestants are afraid to be messy because of the thinkpieces and outrage that will come shortly after, not to mention that the show itself has been linked to three suicides already.

They were planning to do a version of LI where older people who aren't looking for clout would join the show instead and that is what should have happened already.

I haven't even watched LI UK since Dami and Indiyah's season.

This is really interesting to me.  As a huge fan of the show, I can't say it's undeserved.  Of course all things run their course, LI wasn't going to be a juggernaut forever, but the producers really ****** things up this year.

First of all, the public CANNOT handle two seasons a year.  LI is a massive time commitment: it's on every damn day for two whole months.  It's like the Olympics or the World Cup, but LONGER.  And those are only every four years.  Two LI seasons in one year was always a bad idea; the first winter season didn't work and neither did the second.  And now it's hurting the summer season.

Secondly, S9 was BAD.  I still cannot fathom why the producers allowed the two fan favorites - Zara and Taynel - to be dumped, while allowing so many unlikable people to make it all the way to the end.  It would have been like dumping Maura and Amber early in S8 and allowing Michael to make the finals.  It was so unsatisfying, and I think it made a lot of people stop watching.

Third, the initial cast for this season was really underwhelming.  The public wants "regular people" (not obvious influencers like Molly) but they still have to be charismatic and attractive.  We need BOMBSHELLS with big energy like Kem, Chris, Montana, and Olivia (S3), Megan (S4), Amber and Maura (S5), and Ekin-Su and Davide (S8).  There's not a single person this year with main character energy so far.  No one wants to see Molly crying every episode.

Fourth, Millie and Liam really damaged the show when they won S7.  By showing that a man can treat a woman horribly and still win, they (and the producers) set a very dark precedent.  Now, every season we have multiple couples where the guy mugs the girl off, the girl cries for a couple episodes, the guy apologizes, they get back together and make the final.  This isn't fun to watch.  Again, imagine if Amber had taken Michael back or if Maura had taken Tom back in S5.  It wouldn't have been nearly as satisfying.  We need the producers to cast stronger women with actual backbones and at least a couple of nice guys each season.

Finally, the formula is predictable.  We all know exactly when Casa Amor will start, and how it works.  We know that dumpings will happen via the "safe" couples choosing from the "bottom 3."  We know when bombshells are coming and how they'll arrive.  Even small things are exactly the same each season: like today 2 new bombshells are entering and they pick three guys each to make a starter, main, and dessert.  They've done this exact thing for the last 5+ seasons.  Switch it up at least a little!  Actually surprise the audience every once in a while.  The exact same formula only works so long before getting stale.

In conclusion, I still love the show, but it's definitely time for some adjustments.  I hope the producers can get things back on track asap.

Luckily Love Island Australia remains excellent :alexz:

Season 5 is and will remain S.P.E.C.I.A.L. It was like the perfect blend of drama without being trash and funny without being corny. The cast was 5*.

Many people I know used to be so into it and now nobody cares :rip:

It’s tired AF

The way Love Island rose after its revival as Big Brother was aging out, and now seems to be going through its very own death spiral just as the OG reality King is about to make their own comeback on the same channel — the people are ready for it :clap3:

Side note but I think the idea of a 24hr live feed would actually go down even better now in the age of TikTok than it did with the CCTV novelty of the 00s; in fact the whole premise feels like a messy TikTok live lovers dream. Not to mention how iconic some of the latter day CBB runs remain even now; eugh please fellow kids, make it smash!

Agreed and it's one of the reasons why it's considered the best season of the show overall.
