HELP-  not #3 :rip:

And the Rich Men points could be higher than that if sales are bigger than expected

I'm surprised she's not #2 though. They had her at #1 yesterday

I thought her fanbase was huge. Why don’t y’all buy the song?

And everyone keeps mentioning Drake week after week since July and still nothing. No one knows if he's releasing this friday...

There's only 1 version and the song is 4 years old, a lot of us have already bought it :deadbanana2:

Lover is basically the only era that broke her #1 streak no?

I mean she did not get #1s on her first three eras but then every album since Red had a #1 except for Lover. For that reason alone I would like for this to hit #1.

The way this could be #1 if she released some sort of video or a deluxe or some DJ remixes, SOMETHING :toofunny2:

Does she hate the Lover era? Why isn't she pushing this when it's so close but then did the impossible to get Willow the #1

is the song not getting a video?

Her silence is telling. Something big must be coming for Anniversary week :angelo:

Yo Tay usually is dragged for being a chart obsessive, so the one time she lets an organic hit be and do its thing y’all drag her? lol I think she’s very satisfied with this song becoming as big as it did without her having to lift a finger. It’s a win from every POV. Don’t let a peak position fool you guys.

Now i can’t believe MAGAs are gaming the charts these days just like BTS stans used to and barring the real hits :deadbanana4:

Because all of us already bought the song years ago and Billboard changed some rules that make it harder to just mass buy.

THAT right there is the real problem i have. Cruel Summer is a hit no matter what. But MAGAs gaming the charts and getting organized around it is gonna become a REAL problem in the future if Billboard doesn't do something about it.

There is nothing to do about it because there's nothing illegal/fraudulent. It sucks, but it is what it is. Taylor herself/Swifties also had their fair share of gaming the charts.

Maybe not but you KNOW those songs aren't smashing because of the music, but simply because of the political message. Do you really want to see fascists getting #1 every single week and see charts turn into political campaigning? :rip:

No, something need to be done. No one should be able to game the charts.

There's so much irony in the fact that the album titled Lover is the era that promotes the most discourse of any of hers :dies:

No, I don't want to see them getting #1s, but what exactly can they do about it? Ban politically charged songs? Therefore, no songs about woke culture at large could chart either?

To me this is no different than a song hitting #1 thanks to a powerful fan base.

I hate that this type of songs get #1s with such hateful message, but this is not in any way, shape, or form, fraudulent. There is no reason for Billboard to not allow these songs to chart.

If it happens more often the only thing Billboard will do is readjust the formula once again and change the sales/streaming/radio ratio. They won’t be debuting at #1, but will still chart high since they are mass streamed too. I think there’s little to do. They know they’re powerful and are well organized to show their power as consumers.

The difficult part of this is that mere coordination doesn’t imply impropriety. The song really is popular enough in general, through its extreme popularity with one group, to earn its chart placement. What would Billboard do? Cease counting sales entirely? As much as they’re usually dead these days, digital sales are still a valid method of music consumption that many people use. And further, we have to consider that the very purpose of music is often to serve as a vessel for a message. This song is right in line with what American music has been for decades. I think you and I are on the same page on that message being uninformed, misinformed, disagreeable, and ignorant, but then those people would say the same of a song like You Need to Calm Down.

The unfortunate truth of the matter is that conservatives have simply decided that they not only want to put their money where their mouth is and support creators who voice their same concerns (however off the mark they are), and that they’re doing so at just the right time for the charts to reflect it, completely by accident. It’s a little bizarre, but it’s also probably a temporary phenomenon.

Maybe someone should use AI to create Cruel Summer (Country mix) (MAGA version)
and we don't have to worry about losing #1 anymore :bird:

Watch that Richmond song now also block "Cruel Summer" from reaching #1 on US Spotify tomorrow… :gaycat7:

That would be crazy but I won't be surprised. Rich Men already peaked higher than Jason Aldean on Apple Music.

I think it will jump to top 5 on spotify tomorrow

I'm not sure I'm following. What do you think should "be done"? Putting aside this specific song, I think it's incredible that an unsigned artist can post a video that resonates with people so much that it can shoot to #1 on the Hot 100.
