It's not really a surprise. Remember the Midnights thread and how people freaked out about the song's titles? Swifties have a tendency of being doomers for absolutely no reason 

 

Almost every other fanbase would be delirious with joy at all the success if it was their faves slaying like this. But not Swifties, no. We always have to have meltdowns over things that don't even really matter

if anything is pissing ME! off more than the dumb unwarranted meltdowns is the fact that THAT POS skated through ******* 16 weeks and getting interrupted only twice, while now suddenly there's multiple songs competing, her luck on the hot100 should be studied. will never get over ME! having more points than any #1 in the past 3? years and yet got blocked  and let's not open more wounds with IKYWT or IDWLF or YBWM  if her #2s matches her #1s 

 

also 14M were competing for tickets yet 50k can't buy the song, it doesn't make sense

Maybe this would have been the best week to push it or maybe it won’t be. If that song is selling as well as some say, she was probably closer to #1 last week than she will be this week

It seems really stable. Drake is always a threat but at least it won't drop like a rock after this week, like the new MAGA song will.

Not to raise the specter of defeat too early, but it’s possible that her team has a more direct connection with Luminate and already has preliminary sales information about competing songs suggesting that the #1 is out of the realm of feasibility.

 

But I have faith that if she sees the chance to snatch that #1, she will move.

Her #2 songs always has the toughest competition (I Gotta Feeling, Locked Out of Heaven, Shape of You, Old Town Road)

Yeah the #1 isn't happening for "Cruel Summer" this week.

 

She should ask Republic for intel about when Drake is dropping his album/lead single, coordinate around then and save the push for #1 for next week, if she even has plans to push this of course unless this MAGA song actually becomes a legit hit and stays stable next week…

It’s already too late now to push for this week. The Maga song is gonna explode after today on streaming and if you haven’t noticed, it’s still number one on sales  

 

It might even go Into the next tracking week extremely strong too the way it’s still growing

That was her idea of promoting the song. A cute short clip on TikTok/Reels. She doesn't want to give us FULL and FREE footage of the tour performance before the film.

Anti-Hero also got a lot of relatively "easy" weeks. Much more than Last Night which the strongest #1 in ages if anything. People should just stop measuring a song success by whether it reaches #1 or not given that it depend on a lot of stuff.

The one thing she could still pull off this week is a digital release of a remix or live version, plus a tour video. She still has time for those to make an impact, though less than when web sales happened.

 

Still such tactics may be best preserved for the next tracking week - the MAGA song isn’t going to sustain its sales. These things have explosive sales at the outset, but the current music industry climate just can’t sustain that for long. Even if it’s stronger on streaming next week, it won’t have much radio and won’t have the same high sales. I could be wrong, but Drake feels like the only real threat next week, and that’s if he drops anything at all. Even then, with the right tactics, she could prevail.
