Støned Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 Damn, if Cruel Summer manages to linger in the charts in Summer 2024, i'd be shook.
cruelhprince Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 this is crazy. it's a matter of time til it becomes her biggest song 2

Acuminatus Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 And it's doing this well during winter time.

It could end behind Shake It Off. ut at this point it looks like it will overtake both Blank Space and Anti-Hero. MMMMM. Blank Space's video was an iconic moment. It being after Shake It Off too. So culturally I always think BS will be bigger than Cruel.
Arrows Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Am I crazy to think this could smash even more in 2024 than last year?
TensionThingz Posted January 1 Posted January 1 When she releases MV right after winning big at Grammys, then what 1
Klein Posted January 2 Posted January 2 When will this song die? Here's to another billion streams in 2024 I guess.
TensionThingz Posted January 2 Posted January 2 With the tour still going i think CS will get bigger than SIO and BS chart wise
IBeMe Posted January 3 Posted January 3 This not having an mv is sort of making it hard to process or visualize it potentially being bigger than Shake It Off or Blank Space. Had this had a solid mv i think it'd be taken more seriously as being her biggest hit but because there is no visual attached to it it is hard to associate it to an iconic era or look etc. Even a tour mv would have done wonders for it in terms of memorability with the public and fan base (and when I say memorability I mean more like association...not memorability because the song has massive streaming so it is obviously remembered lol). Idk how to explain it I guess 8

Idk how to explain it I guess agreed, like...part of me is still overdosing on copium hoping for her to release a video on the 5th anni of lover or valentines day or end of the eras tour or SOMETHING, bc its what i want ofc but also one of her biggest hits not having an MV just feels weeeeeeird. and like, it also stinks for IION?, but at least that has the excuse of not being the intended single + unexpectedly doing SO well that first week. meanwhile CS seemingly always was intended to be a single + has the legacy and amazing story of its success...i pray she's managed to throw smth together and we'll get it this year 3

I'm also kinda delusionally thinking that she'll throw together some kind of tour mv for the song but it just genuinly doesnt make sense anymore to hold onto hope for that at this point sadly If she hasn't done it yet she just won't do it when it's officially slowing down a bit. It's frustrating having two #1s back to back with no mv lol. Feels so weird. I know it was more common in the past but idk..not even having a tour mv when u have hte performance recorded and just sitting there just makes no sense to me
Ms. Togekiss Posted January 3 Posted January 3 I have a feeling that the reason why this doesn’t have a music video is that one was filmed back in 2019/early 2020 and was shelved during the pandemic. And now that music video might be outdated with the mijiji vibes of the og lover era and she may be just too busy now to record a mv for a song that already has one and that has done so well on its own. I mean, she didn’t even film a video for any 1989 tv vault tracks… I think thats a much bigger (and important conversation). There must be a reason why she isn’t releasing mv’s rn. Remember she said her life is planned years in advance

Remember she said her life is planned years in advance Its fine is she doesnt wanna film a MV for this (at this point its too late anyways) But why not give it the tour video treatment? there is enough footage from her shows to make a cute tour video for this.. i guess maybe shes releasing it after the tour ends But it definitely makes sense for Cruel Summer to have Eras Tour visuals since its kinda THEE defining eras tour song. And i just like when all singles have some kind of visuals attached to them Edited January 3 by TaylenaStan
